Forums - Nintendo - Prediction: Zelda U will be the best critically acclaimed video game ever (yet)

Will Zelda U be the game with the highest score ever?

Its zelda, so definetly 59 16.12%

I doubt it 61 16.67%

yes probably 22 6.01%

possibly 75 20.49%

No 128 34.97%

My body is ready! 21 5.74%

Total:366

I think it will be the highest rated game for 2016, but certainly not the best game of all time.

Statistically impossible. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has a 99 average and won multiple "Greatest Game Ever" awards (AFTER Final Fantasy 7 released). It would need 100 to be the best acclaimed game. Which is a statistical impossibility.

Ocarina of Time will never bethroned

Can it be more acclaimed than Ocarina of Time was? No way in hell. I don't think ANY game will.
If it turns out to be one of most acclaimed games, if not THE most acclaimed game of this generation, I think that's good enough. And I don't doubt that Nintendo can pull it off with this game, I mean, it's the effing Legend of Zelda!!
So I think this game will turn out to be one of the best games we've had this generation, and one of the best Zelda games ever.
Though, as for will it be my favorite? I'll have to play it myself to determine that.
It's going to take A LOT for this game, or any game, to top Skyward Sword for me. I just love that game so freaking much!

Not statistically impossible. Technically everyone could rate it 10/10 and its average would be 100%. It's just humanly impossible, since you cannot please everyone (Unless you have like tons of different games of tons of different genres as one game...)

Can't wait for The Zelder Scrolls 3: Breath of The Wild Hunt!

I don't think so, but I can see it doing 95+, which is spetacular!

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

This is maybe just my inner zelda fan speaking, but i know alot of people are concerned how good Zelda U will be, some say the world is too barren and not much going on, but now with the delay time i think Aounuma worked on that, so that shouldnt be an issue. But its a bold prediction and i think zelda U can be a near perfect game if not completely perfect. Does maybe someone agree that it can be possible?

What's this prediction based off of though? lol

Statistically impossible is not the same as categorically or absolutely impossible.  It simply means the probability is so low as to approach zero and therefore be be unworthy of mention in practical discussion. There are over seventy reviewing sites now counted in the standard averages.  The number of combinations resulting in a 100 is one.  The number of combinations resulting in any score lower than 100 is exponentially higher.  In the hundreds of thousands or higher.  Factor in clickbait tendancies, the likelihood of differing opinions which has only gone up with the number of outlets, and other factors affecting scores and the probability definitly approaches zero.  It's simple math really.  It could be the most acclaimed in terms of awards and number of perfect scores, but not average score.

Okay, I understand now. Thanks.

I think 96 is realistic meta. Nothing can beat OoT even after all these years. Standards for games have changed.

Like others, I do think this has the potential to be the greatest Zelda game, though. But most critically acclaimed? I just don't see it happening, unfortunately.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P
