Thank you. There are a surprising number of Tobey fans on this site who blindly shunning change despite (and I will not be popular for saying any of this but I sincerely mean all of it) A) spider-man 3 is the worst spider-man move. B) Tobey Maguires Spider-man was written like he was a moron who repeatedly made terribly stupid decisions. C) Tobey never got the spider-man smart ass sass right. D) like you said he's too old.
Honestly I think Tobey is overrated in the part and most of it is nostalgia for when the series was new. Tobey only ever got the part where Peter Parker is whiny a bitch right and that is the characters least appealing trait.

Spider-Man has been around for over 50 years now and has gone through many changes and characterizations. I grew up with 80s-00s Spider-Man so I never viewed him as 60s version many older fans do. To me, the Raimi Spider-Man films were equivalent to Burton/Schumacher Batman films. People who viewed it as updating old characters rather than noting the changes they went through in modern times. I never cared for any of those films personally. I enjoyed Nolan's Batman update, but found ASM films to be a mixed bag of far superior casting (yes, I'll take Garfield/Stone over Maguire/Dunst any day), but some problems of poor writing persisting (the bridge scene SM1 / the crane scene ASM1 are both cringe worthy).
I am definitely minority who is happy to see my favorite Super hero get another shot, hopefully in Marvel's hands I'll finally get my Spider-Man film been waiting for decades to see.
