Lol @ this guy. Salty as he is. It's like he's saying every game that has people looking like people all look the same because they made people look realistic. How can anyone agree with this nonsense?

Because, obviously, when you try to do a realistic game, and you do it as realistic as possible, it's obvious that they all tend too look the same XDDDD. If you're aiming to do a realistic game, "reality" looks the same to all of us. Okey, I'm very bad explaining things, but I think you get the point. Just look at the Ubi conference if you wanna know what he's talking about. Boring as hell.

By the way, I'm more concerned about the painfully need to put a gun, sword and similars in characters hands. It's like there are not other ways to play games without killing someone/something. I'm not talking about violence here, I don't care about that, I'm saying the gameplay tends to be the same too. Shoot, cover, kill, cover, shoot, kill. Jesus.

The irony... you realise Starfox is all about shoot/barel roll/shoot and kill, right?

But at least it doesn't look realistic.

I doubt Miyamoto, is seeing those games advertised to him. His perception of things outside of Nintendo are generally what he sees at the show floor at e3, and he most likely spends most of his time going to see big third party developers to see what they are up to.

If thats the case he's at fault

Rainbow 6, Ghost Recon, Fifa, COD

Vs

Batman Arkham Knight, Halo 5, Fable legends, No Mans Sky, Street Fighter 5, Horizon, Unravel, Tomb Raider Legend, Metal Gear Solid V, Kingdom Hearts, Deux Ex: Humandkind divided.

If we look at games which have recently passed. Destiny, Driveclub, Little Big Planet, Sunset Overdrive, Project Spark, Ori and the Blind Forest, The Order 1886, Dragon Age Inquisition, Witcher 3, Bloodborne. He's definitely being selective.

Yes it is his fault, but at the same time if you are busy individual, who I imagine really wants to retire sooner than later, he doesn't get to see those titles, because they just aren't being advertised and put in front of him like the bigger third party titles are (I think out of Nintendo he most likely has the most pressure on him at times). Also some of your selection doesn't help either, because games like The Order, Dragon Age, Witcher don't really break that realism mold of looking different enough if you just look at them quickly.

I can understand his statement based on what I percieve to be his perception, and I can also understand as a gamer. I still love realistic games games, I also love games driven by unique art styles.

The thing I wrote in brackets is the reason I would defend Miyamoto but I would want Reggie sacked. Reggie isn't doing much in his power to remedy the situation.

im pretty fucking sure that Uncharted doesnt look the same as Bloodborne which in turn doesnt look even close to Horizon which at the same time doesnt resemble Halo in any way, and none of those look like Hitman, which doesnt look the same as The Witcher 3, which looks different than FFXV... and so on and on...

but sure lets shit on realistic games by saying they all look the same :/ (im sure there is no sort of artistic design in those games...)

I don't really get why people are saying he is upset, doing dc, or see this as PR. Sounds like he is just giving his opinion on games today. No need to attack him on that.

Don´t you know that we should all attack everything they do or say because they had a bad conference on E3?

Everything they say that is negative about their competitor or the industry is just them being upset and salty right? Haha...

That is only because he stopped in time... they had severe limitations because of the platform in the past, and got confortable around that.

Life-like could be all the same, but I never saw anyone complaining that movies look all the same just because we see real people.

And of course you can use the same level of production value of Uncharted, Gears, Gran Turismo, etc and not make it realistic, but highly creative without looking cartoon or artificial... like sci-fi world.

I agree, Miyamoto most likely has held this view since the beginning of PS3/360 generation.

Those are all Mario games. What were you expecting?

They're all different games, sometimes across different genres, that look the same.  Just saying, "but they're Mario games," doesn't set that aside.  If you have a problem with "realistic games" looking the same then you should have a problem with tennis, racing, fighting, platforming, and party games all looking the same, too--if you don't, then you are a hypocrite.

The core truth here is that a man who works for a company where many different games look the same is pointing a finger at the rest of the industry for making games that look the same.

Never mind that many "realistic games" do not look the same, especially since many "realistic games" aren't very realistic.  Halo, Doom, Deus Ex, and Fallout do not look the same.  The military shooters aside, many games have their own style which make them relatively unique.

Really, this is just Nintendo management trying to make themselves look better by putting down everyone else with generalizations.  It's what Reggie does all the time.  People who are already Nintendo fans might like it but I think it turns everyone else off.

It's not about how they look though ... Is it Nintendo? It's about how they play ... I'm sure I read that somewhere.

Nintendo finally unveiled Star Fox Zero during its Digital Event that aired on Tuesday. In creating the game, Shigeru Miyamoto has said that the team decided to focus on the gameplay and a purposeful visual style. Miyamoto feels that, these days, the realistic look of games causes them to “all look the same”.

As reported by The Wall Street Journal:

In a press event Sunday, Miyamoto said that the point of Star Fox Zero is the gameplay and the visual style of the game, which is somewhat cartoony. It was made that way with a purpose. “A lot of games nowadays look so realistic that they all look the same,” Miyamoto said.

Star Fox Wii U is due out this holiday for Wii U. PlatinumGames is working with Nintendo on the game’s development.

I disagree with him, though. That's like saying all cartoony games look the same.

Sometimes that is true.

I think your trying to make a "joke" of this matter is a defense mechanisme, so people dont go that path.

You must realise it can be taken that way, otherwise you wouldnt have felt the need to post that.

Honestly alot of Nintendos PR is just "we re good at everything, our competitors suck" or

"we did good, its just our greatness is misunderstood by consumers".
