Forums - Nintendo - Three things give me hope for Starfox Zero

1. Platinum games are involved

These guys have a track record of excellence, from Bayonetta 1 and 2 to Vanquish. They may be co-developing rather than running the show, but if you ask me, their influence is likely to be a good thing.

2. Yusuke Hashimoto is involved

The director of Bayonetta 2 himself. Nuff said.

3. Partly inspired by Starfox 2

There were a lot of good ideas in the unreleased Starfox 2 that never saw the light of day in its released successors, such as the ability to transform between different vehicles at will, which we've already seen in Zero. Perhaps other such ideas will be included as well; which range from being able to store abilities like energy shields to use at will, lite RTS elements, hidden collectibles, multiple bosses per stage, etc.

The game mechanics should be excellent, I feel that they shouldn't rush it though, the graphics weren't bad but it needs some additions and polish. However they decide to handle it the good news is that Star Fox is back, maybe F-Zero is next.

I don't know why so many people were complaining about Star Fox Zero. It looks like, by release date, it'll be an awesome game.

bet: lost

I don't own a Wii-U, but I think it looks quite good. And I have no issues with the graphics.

Don't get your hopes up. Even though Star Fox went through a very long drought, Nintendo always showed some interest in bringing the franchise back. F-Zero has been away for even longer, and everytime they're asked about it the answer is quite a negative one. I don't think we should expect a new F-Zero game anytime soon. Maybe not even this decade.

Don't really see why platinum being on board is such a good thing. They are just doing they grunt programming work as Nintendo wants it because Nintendo themselves can't do it.

You underestimate how much Platinum really is involved in this. Judging by the trailer at least - the graphics, the gameplay, hell even the music, all have a very Platinum feel to them. The game feels 1 third Nintendo, 2 thirds Platinum.

@OP, I don't know why you wouldn't have hope in the first place. The game looks amazing.

Honestly my hopes aren't up, I didn't even expect them to localize Fatal Frame 5 with Nintendo of America's track record. This isn't the Wii though, they are desperate for software which makes me think that is the only reason they brought Fatal Frame to the west.

Yeah, Fatal Frame being localized caught me pleasantly off guard too, and this is coming from a guy who spent 6 months pestering Nintendo with emails, tweets, facebook emssages, and Miiverse posts to bring it over. After a while it felt like it was all futile. Maybe they just finally got sick of me. ;)

Me too! Last Halloween I think it was, I posted a miiverse comment about getting another Fatal Frame or at the very least an HD collections. I've had to hack my Wii U for Fatal Frame 2 and 4.

They probably did. I don't think anyone could endure 6 months of you, no offense.

Back on topic, I'm really looking forward to the second good Star Fox game.

Aw, I love you too. :P

As to the second point, sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r026-CFoM2w

Wow, that is so underwhelming. It's kinda like the Star Fox Zero theme, except it's lame.

I was listening to the Corneria theme not long ago (and wishing it makes an unlikely comeback on the new game), and that's what I thought you'd be posting. That song is worth my time.

Well, Miyamoto has said that this game has inspirations from the second SNES game, so I hope you're looking forward to that. ;)

Good points, but I can't see why you would have low hopes about this game to begin with. The trailers have made it look pretty fantastic, imo. I think it will end up being one of Wii U's best games.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P
