I agree. The biggest blockbusters this holiday are on Xbox One. We have yet to find out if they're also the best games of the year though. I think what many people try to point out is that spreading out the exclusives isn't necessarily a bad thing (Bloodborne, The Order: 1886, MLB 15: The Show, etc. all released in the first half of the year).
I can fully see why people say that in terms of big blockbusters Halo 5, Gears Remaster, Forza 6 and Tomb Raider are bigger than Bloodborne, Uncharted Collection, The Order: 1886, Until Dawn and MLB 15: The Show. If Horizon: Zero Dawn and Gran Turismo 7 launch in holiday 2016 together with other big exclusives, PS4 would probably have the bigger holiday lineup next year. But this holiday, the biggest blockbuster exclusives are on Xbox One. |
Exactly. You hit the nail on the head. The Xbox One has more blockbusters. All I said was that they had more contenders for GOTY and the guys get salty. Microsoft is going to have a nearly flawless tail end third quarter and fourth quarter (save for Fable legends lol). They choose not to pay attention just because they are looking at a laundry list of games (which don't get me wrong are fun if you have a lot of time on your hands), Plain and simple. Tomb Raider for 2015 and Halo are merely contenders and no doubt Halo 5 will win best shooter of the year on the Xbox. The Gears remake and Tomb Raider will also be in the running for best third person shooter. Timed exclusive or not Tomb Raider much like Fallout 4's mods are exclusive for the rest of 2015.
How can we even begin to consider certain games being "GOTY contenders", when they haven't released yet? Like I said before, I am sure they will be great, but to what extent REMAINS to be seen.
It would be foolish of me to go around claiming that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will win/be a GOTY contender next year, with even having played the damn thing.

But thé fact is you are wrong on one point, Being a blockbuster in term of sales doesnt make a game more goty than an other with less sales and that is pure fact Souls games proved many time winning GOTY whereas they are not blockbusters, while Halo failed to be Goty after the first one despite Being a blockbuster , that just shows Being goty has nothing to do with thé sales since its always about quality, not sales
You cant explain in what way a blockbuster game is better because it is not, its just better in sales, its exactly like movies, yes a Marvel movie is a blockbuster but it doesnt make it better than a movie like Big Eyes ( at thé opposite in fact )
And if we want to go by thé timed exclusive logic, yours, then PS4 has a big advantage over X1 in term of blockbuster, most of thé blockbusters multiplatform will be much better on PS4 with thé additional content , COD, star wars, AC, Batman, MGS,...

Yes, a lot of these have either 2015 or 2016 release date, but no actual release date. Also, I see quite a few game -that at the time you wrote this list was exclusive, but isn't anymore, like Aaru's Awakening.
But I will look through this. Thanks :)

Many games are deserving and as far as exclusives for the year for the PS4 and Xbox One go go Bloodborne, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Halo 5 are going to be shoe ins for contention. No doubt Halo will win best shooter of the year though.
You cant explain in what way a blockbuster game is better because it is not, its just better in sales, its exactly like movies, yes a Marvel movie is a blockbuster but it doesnt make it better than a movie like Big Eyes ( at thé opposite in fact ) Avengers turned critics heads as well as common onlookers to the last of my recollection. Titanic was a blockbuster but it was also a classic in terms of direction. There are movies out there which are made by trusted studios that can draw large crowds of people and still look like they require intelligence to play them. You're belittling the games just because you don't like them. I've never played Persona but I wouldn't doubt that on a good year where there are no games like the Witcher, Mass Effect or Dragon Age that it could win RPG of the year.
Are you serious? That timed exclusivity will not last long. When Microsoft does it sometimes you don't even know you'll get a game until the next year. Remember Bioshock? I know I do. The timed exclusivity lasted a year. |

And no doubt Persona 5 is as much a Goty contender in it's own category than Halo for FPS, Persona 5 will win best jrpg of the year so in what way does that make Halo 5 more GOTY to be the fps of the year ?
The fact is i could say the same about Halo and Persona 5, i'm not belittling the games, i'm just using your own logic , there is no reason to say Halo 5 has more chance to be GOTY than Persona 5 in a year with so COD/Batman( not so good btw) / Star Wars/fallout 4 .
The difference is we know how long will last Tomb Raider timed exclusivity, it will be as much as the timed exclusivty for DLC. So if you think ( without evidence) that a timed exlcusive shoulndbt be counted because it will not last long, then by your logic, you say it's not serious to count TR since it's coming very soon after on PS4
