Seeing as how the ps4 is the primary console now, I will work with that.

Personally, I view the wii u as the secondary console, solely for its number of games released. However, I believe that by next year, the xbox would have out done it based on quality. No not gameplay quality, but rather graphical and computational power. Why? Because both consoles are on the market for nearly the same price (last year we saw a $330 xbox one with 2 assassins creed games, the wii u stands at $300 with a game), but one has greater graphical power and greater future prospects, and the other will pretty much have little to no support after this year.

Have a smartphone with you? well now you also have the dual screen capabilities of the wii u in games like fallout 4. Want to play games of the last generation? Now xbox one lets you play 360 games. Want a great online experience? xbox and ps4 rip the wii u to shreds.

the wii u is a decent console, but unless you are crazy for platformers or Nintendo games, xbox one will be the way to go after this year ends (unless the wii u gets a massive price cut)

WiiU is crap! Nintendo knows this and that's why the company itself isn't too concerned with it. This isn't trolling. It's my honest opinion. Seems Nintendo fans will never admit to the obvious.

Well the WiiU is my primary console and personally I'm pretty satisfied with it. I'm thinking about a ps4 down the line.

I think if the wiiU makes a good secondary console as well comes entirely down to the kind of gamer you are. Do you like Nintendo games and want to play them? There. WiiU is the perfect secondary console for you.
Lets be honest here for a second, the Xbox and the Ps4 share significantly more overlap with each other than they do with the WiiU. If you want the broadest possible gaming expierence out of two consoles, you should go with the WiiU.

However if you don't like the kind of games Nintendo makes, the WiiU would be a horrible choice for you, seeing that at this point Nintendo first party is basically it's sole selling point.

Now why anyone would want a ps4/xbox one setup is a mystery to me, unless you're an avid Halo fan that for some reason went with the ps4 at launch, or you just want that 1080p multiplat experience on the ps4 but got the xbox at launch....maybe? None of the two have enough must-play exclusives to warrant buying them both at the moment imo.

As it stands I'm personally the least interested in the Xbox, it has, as of this E3, three games I'm potentially interested in and those are Ori and the blind forest, Cuphead and the new Keiji Inafune ip. Those don't justify a console purchase for me though.

What are your PC specs? Your rig must have been expensive 5 years ago if its more powerful than PS4.

But it also depends on the settings you play a game on. Games on PS4 and XB1 have high and ultra settings with 1080p for PS4 and sometimes for XB1.

There is more to XB1 than Halo and more to PS4 than 1080p multiplats. I have all 3 consoles and I like PS4 and XB1 more than Wii U. Sony and Microsoft are making tons of exclusives which turn my attention away from PC multiplats. Wii U had a stellar 2014 but after that it has become worse than 2013 with only Xenoblade Chronicles X being a game that interests me coming out this year and it has Zelda in 2016. That's all that really interests me on the system.

PS4 already has Infamous: Second Son and Driveclub which I've really enjoyed a lot. XB1 has Forza Horizon 2. And both these systems have just got started with the exclusives.

I think all 3 stand well as primary consoles. They all have a large enough library of games that you can enjoy the generation on just one console. Though since they all have good games, the best scenario would be to own them all to enjoy them all, or get the ones with the game you really have interest in. That's just me though.

you are wrong as always. you already start wrong by not considering Wii U a primary console by ignoring personal preference for games.

When NX releases, and all major games, thade the wii U for a NX.

Sony and Xbox will have support for 8-10 years, Wii U is done after 2 years on the market. Smash 4 was the last AAA game it will probably get.

It is very difficult to say to someone to buy a Wii U as their 2nd console when support has already been pulled.

Yeah I sort of made a broad statement there to illustrate my point, but in a way you seem to actually agree with me. You're just one of those people that get more out of the Xbox/ps4 combo than I ever would. I honestly forgot about forza horizon 2 because I have zero interstest in it (my bad :/, but your post reminded me of sunset overdrive, which I kind of liked).

To me, all of those exclusives, although diffrent games are still similar types of experiences. One or the other series might be exclusive, but to me that doesn't really matter that much because they resembled each other to begin with. They are more similar to each other than to the ones on wiiU. That was my point.

You don't seem to get that much out of platformers and even Nintendo games at large judging by what you're excited for on the U. I guess the type of experience ps4/Xbox provide is just more to your tastes. So to you having a WiiU as a secondary console might not make much sense. Like I said it comes down to the types of games you wan't to play. For me, that has to include a Nintendo console because I get the most out of their games.
