If they make it X86 and similar spec to current gen it shouldn't take too much convincing to make a Wii U version? They probably wouldn't have full blown support but it would bring a decent amount back. Their fanbase don't buy their games but this could convince others to spread their tastes a little. 

your evidence doesn't support your claim.

sony also publicly stated they are working on their next console,.. that doesn't mean that ps4 is being replaced next year. R&D can span 3-6 years. stating that are working on a home console doesn't provide any evidence that NX is a home console.

We still don't know exactly what the NX is even intended to be, and the big three are constantly working on the next iteration of their home consoles in some capacity. It's not like a year before the Wii was offed Nintendo suddenly started R&D for what would become the Wii U.

To the surprise of no one. Seriously, everyone was just in denial about it being a handheld, the 3ds is still doing good, it still has some life in it, the Wii U was dead on arrival, which do you think they're replacing first?

I think it is more logical from a business point of view that the NX is a handheld, powerful enough to handle Wii U level type games and its home console brother. They can't really afford to fuck up their handheld business, which I think it is more of a priority than the home console side.
