GRAND THEFT AUTO is the biggest non-bundled gaming franchise ever in the history of gaming.Not comparing games like Minecraft.It is also the highest grossing non-bundled gaming franchise ever.A new GRAND THEFT AUTO release shakes the entire world and a big ENTERTAINMENT piecenot just in gaming but overall.

GRAND THEFT AUTO before Generation 7 used to be synonymous with release first on PLAYSTATION on consoles.It is in way of luck that SONY got the franchise as exclusive and very cheap.Back before when PS2 was launching,GRAND THEFT AUTO had debuted as a 2D game franchise on PS1 and had relative success but it was nowhere near what was to come in the future.It was still a Mediocre level franchise but had been a hit with good sales on PS1.So when PS2 was launching as the successor to the best selling console of all-time PS1,SONY was look for games to display the power of their new console PS2 and looking to have a diverse bunch of games for different crowds.At the same time ROCKSTAR GAMES,the maker of GTA games was upgrading the GTA franchise to 3D and what better than to be a showcase game for the best selling gaming brand PLAYSTATION so before E3 unveiling and launch of PS2,SONY and ROCKSTAR struck a deal and brought the same as a Timed EXCLUSIVE to PS2 and boy it was cheap.......hehe.The game turned out to be one of the biggest hits,it has many sequels of PS2 and other consoles.GTA San andreas went on to be the highest selling PS2 game ever and became known as PLAYSTATION main GAME FRANCHISE.All GTA game have sold very well,not one flop from GTA.And luckily All GTA games came first on PS2.

Now PS3 was launching,successor to the best selling gaming console of all-time even bettering PS1 sales.SONY needed showcase titles for its launch and their on.But SONY had become arrogant after alot of success,they had 70% marketshare with PS2.And alot of Delays and High Prices and manufacturing problems and devlopment problems later caused PS3 to BOMB atleast at the begining,not what was expected after PS1 and PS2 success and not from the biggest BRAND in gaming.SONY success was so big that they thought they just didn't need exclusives or be competent to win the console war or to sell PS3.They lost a ton of exclusives for their arrogance and also later because of PS3 sales and loss of dominance

Now GRAND THEFT AUTO was the most anticipated gaming franchise for the HD Generation and one that could change the entire console war just by itself.SONY and ROCKSTAR seem to have a long and a pretty good relationship and they haved both helped each other grow.Without PLAYSTATION,GTA would't be as big and without GTA,PLAYSTATION would not have the biggest gaming franchise.

SO they probably had a deal for a set of exclusives for PS3 as SONY needed ROCKSTAR's quality games and ROCKSTAR and TAKE TWO needed to expand their product offering to grow the company and be more profitable.Back in the day,it is know SONY and ROCKSTAR had a deal for 3 gaming exclusives(1 was outright exclusive and 2 were timed exclusive,2 of them were new franchises).Now their is a big fight for sometime that they only had a deal for 1-2 exlcusives but if anybody has been following for a long-time,it was 3 EXCLUSIVES.The debate about how many exclusive deals were signed is because after 2006-08 period people quickly forget and wrote-off SONY as PS3 didn't get GTA4 as exclusive and also ROCKSTAR and SONY amended the deal.

The amended deal was that SONY would let go of GTA4 exclusivity as it would damange GTA4 sales and probably also might damage GTA and ROCKSTAR brand and may not be as popular.And as ROCKSTAR has a good relation with SONY,they agreed as SONY didn't wanna spoil the relationship for the future.IN PART was forgiving GTA4 exlcusivity,it was thouhgt GTA 5 or PS4 GTA6 would be exclusives and 2 other exclusives that ROCKSTAR would make for PS3 or PS4.Now at AGENT was announced at E3 2009 for PS3,it was a new franchise and ROCKSTAR NORTH,studio that made all main GTA games was working on it.But Since then nothing other than an old Screenshot and a Mention here-and-there from SONY or ROCKSTAR has come out for the game.It is popularly been called a Vaporware ROCKSTAR still has renewed the AGENT trademark.AGENT seems like a nice game and concept but a little dark which might make it a problem for it to be mass-market and good trade with GTA exclusivity.AGENT might very well still be in production as many BIG PS3 titles like MGS5,FF15,LAST GAURDIAN,etc were pushed to PS4 or NEXT GEN cause SONY had lost Hope on PS3 and wanted to be full-guns for PS4 Generation and put all weight and energy behind it and will benefit PS4.

Now GTA5,sequel to GTA4 came out at the end of Generation 7 and SONY had a deal for GTA 5 bundle and headset and same for a PS4 GTA5 Bundle,this was expected as SONY was looking to claw back brand-power and PS4 was launching which SONY had a better launch and SONY was winning on sales terms on key multiplatform titles and the result was that GTA5 PS3 version handily outsold GTA5 X360 version and the same happened with next gen version as GTA5 PS4 outsold GTA5 X360 2:1.Also GTA4 had Microsoft marketing,exclusive timed DLC's,lead platform,one year lead console launch,big lead back in 2008 as a console but PS3 version of GTA4 still clawed and came within inches of leveling the GTA4 X360.

Now after GTA5 marketing and bundle deal and keeping in mind AGENT exclusivity and PS4 2:1 lead to XBONE and also FF7,SHENMUE exclusivity,SONY First party exclusivity and MGS5 Bundle and STREET FIGHTER EXLCUSIVITY and Call of Duty and STAR WARS and ASSASSINS CREED Marketing and exlcusivity deals with allmost all major third party franchises,Bundle and DLC Exclusivity,Also ROCKSTAR 3 Game SONY Exclusivity DEAL and Many more BIG EXCLUSIVE Deals and new franchises coming to PS4 and PRICE CUTS,ONE thinks could GTA come back as exlcusive to PS4?..........hehehe

What might have looked unrealitic and a long shot in the begining look very very possible now

SONY doesn't even need to do much,PS4 sales lead,PS4 Domination in EUROPE and WORLWIDE and even in NORTH AMERICA,AGENT exclusivity,GTA4 performance on PS3 and GTA5 sales lead on PS3 and PS4 and ROCKSTAR and SONY 3 game exclusive deal and price cuts and GTA5 SONY Bundle and marketing exlcusivity and a bigger SALES lead which very possible would make GTA6 as a PS4 Timed exlcusive pretty easy even not that expensive.And with SONY's knack for BIG STUNNING INTERNET BREAKING E3 ANNOUNCEMENT this GEN and SONY wanting to win the throne back and KAZ HIRAI revamping SONY and making PLAYSTATION its main product division and talking of  $4 BILLION Profit in 2018 and coming back as a TITAN company and not afraid to spend for exlcusivity.

the way its going they would need to pay as low as $100 million or as high as $200-300million OR they would just put $200million for marketing GTA6 which they would as it is do even if it was multiplatform so its actually not charging them atall

thats chunk change for what it would do not just for PLAYSTAION as a brand but also SONY

and thats if they don't already have an exlcusive deal with ROCKSTAR

GTA5 has sold 27million on PS3 and PS4 and 18million on X360 and XBONE.It can easily become 10 million for XBONE and 25million for PS4 with SONY spending $200 million on marketing and ROCKSTAR spending $200 million on marketing,it could easily become 35 million on PS4 with the rest 10-15 million for XBONE and PC Late release which will bring it equal to GTA5 and this is for first game in generation.Look at how GTA4 sold as it released early on a smaller install base.Later on for GTA7 it could even be 40million on PS4 and 10-15 million on XBONE.

GTA6 seems to me will be a sureshot PS4 Timed exlcusive and make PS4 more comeptive than PS2.

Honestly, do you really think it will ever happen? They'd be losing over 10million sales and piss off the same amount of people. If you'd make a list of all multiplatform games and ranked them by their likeloodhood of ever going exclusive, GTA would be at the very bottom.
