Home console around $300 with similar PS4 specs.
Handheld $150-200.

I think that would be too high... if the ps4 gets a price cut to 299$.... nintendo would have lost the next console, right from the start.

Next console needs to be 200-250$ range, and it needs to be as strong as they can possibly make it for that price.

If they choose to add a gamepad with the next console, they automatically lose next gen.

please nintendo.... go to AMD and get a custom ARM/x86 cpu + GNC apu, with HMC technology ram.

No more powerpc cpus... dont do a 80$ expensive gamepad controller.... drop that concept it hurts too much.

Atleast $299, probably more.

Because you still don't understant the NX is most likely a handheld.

The next home will probabily cost 350$ imo.

I tought the same before, Ryng_Tolu. But the amount of titles announced for 3DS and the lack of announcements for the Wii U + the Zelda no-show really made me wonder. 3DS isn't setting the world on fire like DS, but it's a solid seller and we have some strong software sales for Pokemon, Youkai Watch, MH, etc. The Wii U isn't selling well.

Imagine if they launch a new handheld and it flops for some reason. Now the 3DS is dead and the new handheld also is. So they end up with 2 dead devices. That's a terrible scenario. With a home console, they don't have nothing to lose. 3DS will keep going and the home console scenario doesn't have how to get worse, so they either improve their position or at least remain where they are.

However, it could be a sendoff for the 3DS with the last bunch of games, meaning that NX is a handheld and that they will keep the U going (instead of Dreamcasting themselves) and you would be correct on your point.

Well, for many time Nintendo have annunced more games for WU than for 3DS...

By end of 2014, outside Zelda Majora Mask 3D, Yokay Watch in the west, and some other small games, 3DS games annunced for the 2015 was nothing.

Manywhay, WU was Zelda, XenoBlade, Mario Party 10, Splatoon, SMFE, Capitan Toad..... in short, WU line up >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 3DS

3DS is death? Nope...

This time, this E3, Nintendo annunced more games for 3DS than WU... but that's not mean WU will die. Will happen for sure. But not of course so soon.

Still think NX is a handheld... i also think will be a mix between a handheld and a Tablet.

By the time NX launches, X1 and PS4 will likely be at $300 or less. Furthermore, X1 and PS4 will be at their prime. If Nintendo launches the NX a dime higher than these guys, Nintendo will have another dead console.

^ this.

Either nintendo does a 400$ console thats ALOT faster than the PS4..... OR they design it from the start to be around 250$.

If they go with the 250$ model.... they better not f***ing waste 80$ on the gamepad controller for the console.

I think a lot of folks are suprised at the current $299 price for the Wii U.  The obvious question is whether or not they can keep costs down AND be as powerful as a PS4.  Does it need to be that powerful?

If they want 3rd partie ports in 1080p and not in 900p like XboxOne, then yes.

But then how do the maintain a $299 pricetag?  Remember:  Nintendo does not take loses on their hardware.

Cost of hardware similar specs of PS4 is falling in time, if PS4 hardware was cost around $400 at end of 2013. you can easily expect similar or stronger hardware to cost below $300 in 2016-2017.

It very unrealistic to expect that new console can cost $200-250, that would probably be  most cheap new console in history (especially if we look value of the dollar through times when consoles are launch).

Price point or time of releasing of console are not main reasons why Wii U failed, it had bigger reasons from that, but most important is big mix of very big mistakes, like: bad name, horible marketing, bad launch software and software drouth, hardware not appealing to third party..

I agree with last two bold lines.

I think its possible to make a decent console for 250$
You need to make some sacrifices but, if your deadly focused on cutting every cent off of costs you can, you can still design a good one for that price.

The problem is nintendo dont really have solid hardware guys... and make odd design choices for hardware often.... Yeah it might be to low, and could end up going wrong ; _ ;

Nintendo need to steal some tallent hardware engineers from sony lol.

No, I didn't meant that. I said that if NX is a handheld, then 3DS will be dead as soon as the successor hits the market, as is natural for most consoles.

i've put $99-$199 range with a little bit more than PS4 specs. i'm a consumer so it is best for my wallet and for what I've want. Realistic - no. that is my ideal pricing.

we don't know NX i don't know why there are megaton NX threads... -_-'
