Above $299 will be a disaster. No question. PS4 and Xbox One will both be under $299 by then.

I think a lot of folks are suprised at the current $299 price for the Wii U.  The obvious question is whether or not they can keep costs down AND be as powerful as a PS4.  Does it need to be that powerful?

If they want 3rd partie ports in 1080p and not in 900p like XboxOne, then yes.

Sorry, I didn't explain it well. What I was thinking was that, if Nintendo wants to get some multiplats and 3rd parties, they really needed to try and close the power gap. I don't think Nintendo will do that either. They make games fast enough to supply one console pretty well. The problem is that they can't really supply for two completely different machines and architectures. The Fusion idea could help a lot on that regard.

Third parties arent coming back to Nintendo. Wii U was last chance. Nintendo wasted the opportunity.

Didn't they say Project Cars will be on the next Nintedo Hardware citing that the Wii U was just underpowered?

I wouldn't say "Nintendo wasted the opportunity" as much as "Nintendo's plan backfired completely", even if I really don't know what Nintendo was thinking. They tried to appeal the hardcore talking with 3rd parties, and appeal to the casual crowd with the tablet controller and the Wii brand. And in the end, they didn't get either.

You have to work out developers to get their support. You need to convince them. When PS3 version of Skyrim had a bug that made the game run 5-10 fps Sony sent its engineers to solve. Sony is actually helping Capcom to build Street Gighter V engine and game with its resources. Microsoft also does it but in a smaller scale. Sony gave out free PS4 Dev kits to indie guys. This is called working with develoeprs. And for Nintendo I dont want to mention anything. They got what they deserved.

What I hope, is that it's very cheap.
Third party will not come back, no matter what they do.
That ship has sailed.
So most will use it next to their xbox/playstation
Nintendo makes cartoony games, no high specs are needed for those.
So keep it cheap, and keep the games cheap.

Or they have to invent something unique like the Wii, but there are only so many times you can reinvent the wheel, so I don't see that happening.

But then how do the maintain a $299 pricetag?  Remember:  Nintendo does not take loses on their hardware.

An ordinary controler is the first step to keep the costs low.

This NX thing is make or break for Nintendo. I has to be powerful. It has to have a great launch line up. And the price has to be right.

Something in the ball park of what PS4 does power wise is needed. Of course somethings will be weaker/stronger based on Nintendo's needs. Launch with things people want. How about something like Galaxy 3, Metroid Prime 4, and a new IP? Nintendo having large games at the start would show gamers they have a reason to buy the NX. How about a $349.99 price tag? The system could boast a 1 tb hard drive with a solid price point.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

200$.

NX - $399.....not $1 more or less.....$499 if APPLE console costs $499 and makes it the norm for pricing

no way will Nintendo again fuck their console up again with sub-standard hardware

they just won't get away with another FLOP and BOMB and a good gaming machine won't cost less than $399 and won't be allowed, they just won't get away with it as a COMPANY

the way PS4 is going they are gonna find it tough as it is

But they could compete if NX Handheld is android and NX is also on iPHONE iOS and with the legendary game franchises they have and bring back popularity and also invest in ADULT games
