Reggie Fils-Aime: “It goes back to the statement i made earlier about how we view E3. We just fundamentally don’t believe in showing content at E3 that is going to be a long term proposition. We like to show content that typically will launch in the upcoming Holiday and maybe extending into the first half of the following year. And at this point, the new Zelda for Wii U is not a 2015 project.”
They showed Super Mario Maker last year and they've shown a variety of games in the past well before their actual release date, so I'm calling BS on this excuse. Given the sales situation the Wii U is in, I'm not sure if it's wise for Nintendo to be holding their cards so close to their chest. They probably should be trying to show content that will shine a good light on the Wii U in the future, unless of course they have something else planned.
This interview shows how far Reggie and the rest of Nintendo are off base.

To be fair to Nintendo, when they announced that Zelda was delayed, there was a vocal proportion of the fanbase saying they shouldn't have shown Zelda U at the VGA's and E3 if it wasnt coming in 2015. In particular, I can name one user here (which I won't).
Plus there is a lot of displeasure about the time between announcements of games and when they actually came out. Bayonetta 2, Yoshi's Wolly World, Xenoblade Chronicles and Fire Emblem X SMT were announced before the launch of Wii U and it has taken years for them to see a release.
You can sort of understand their apprehension about showing future titles. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. With that said, the lack of known future titles for Wii U is a little worrying and does not instill confidence.
