Forums - Nintendo - Reggie: Zelda Still on Wii U in 2016

At least something would've been nice.

Ever heard of teasers, Nintendo?

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Great I was really hoping for early 2016 but that sounds more like they will push it until the holidays ... perhaps we will see a March / April release since that is just outside of the 6-8 month window he stated but ... I may as well hope for the best and assume the worst

Collectivism fucking up with the world since ever. This just goes to show Zelda is only coming out around December. We're in for a long wait.

The fact that it's a Legend of Zelda title for a home console should've told you that. If you didn't think it would take forever for Aonuma to throw this one out there then you were fooling yourself.

Their logic doesn't really make sense though.

They showed Zelda a year ago even though it was then slated for holiday 2015.

So now it's a year later and it's supposedly a holiday 2016 game, they can't show it? How was it closer to release last year than it is now?

They also showed several games at last year's E3 that weren't holiday 2014/1st half 2015 titles ... Devil's Third, Mario Maker, demoed Star Fox for the press, etc.

wow in order to not frustrate us they frustrated us even more :P

I don't care if it is end of next year I would have loved to see some more footage of it!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

They should have ended the presentation with The Legend of Zelda U's actual title and release date/window. They did not necessarily have to show the game itself. I believe that this would have left a much better impression with most people. I believe it would have left the audience in suspense and craving more.

The Wii U will be ok (for Wii U standards,I mean no offence) Wii U will have a 3D Mario,Zelda exclusive to it,Star Fox and a plethora of quirky spin offs.I see Zelda Holiday 2016.Then 2017 is limp to new console with smaller games like Mario Party, but I still think NX is the 3DS successor in 2017 and Wii U successor 2018

Mario party again. They shouldn't release any new party game. If so do it in their next console.

"We just fundamentally don’t believe in showing content at E3 that is going to be a long term proposition. We like to show content that typically will launch in the upcoming Holiday and maybe extending into the first half of the following year."

Translation: We didn't show Zelda because it was a year and a half out.

Shows it in 2014 when it was planned to be a year and a half out.

Consistency.

I'd bet my right testicle that it's either ported to or multiplat with NX.
