Forums - Sony - GOW:COO Bombs + PSP Sales DECREASE----WTF?

Didn't buy GOW, but preordered FF7CC. :) The game may be awesome, but it doesn't mean everyone buys it. :P

Currently loving my Wii x2, Xbox 360 Pro & Xbox 360 Arcade, and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Limited "Cloud Black" 160GB PS3

GAMEFLY & GOOZEX FTW

@bod

I sure hope it will be for the devs sake..

as I said I hate it when good games get rejected...

@kamil

but GTA has always shown legs..

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I wouldn't say bombed, but it's certainly a big disappointment. I guess this explains ioi's 30K prediction for it for next week in the prediction league. It probably won't make it to 1 million at this rate.

I dunno how 1 million is possible if like all PSP games it has no legs, unless it does a "monster hunter" in terms of legs...

As far as I was aware this was the biggest PSP game ever or something like that yet the hardware didn;t increase....

just saying if such a thing happened when MGs4 released and people said PS3 always served the MGs demographic it wouldn't be very convincing

@DmeisterJ

I always write in caps, I got banned on AV forums because of that..

1 million is possible -- God of War sells in Europe too. Chains of Olympus will be around 300k just from American/EU first week.

God of War was never a huge draw, and it declined notably from GoW1 to GoW2. I have actually stated on many occassions that this is like Metal Gear: the popularity of this franchise is blown way out of proportion by its devoted fanbase (Metal Gear is more popular than GoW, by a notable margin. That isn't my point. My point is that however big the actual fanbase is for these franchises, the loyal followers think they are much bigger than they actually are).

 Pin  your hopes on GT PSP, when/if it comes, GT5, and in Japan, on FF XIII. The rest is multiplatform or not as big a deal as many want to believe it is.

@ Naz

Well, gow on the Ps2 opened to 166k, and now it's a 3 million seller.

By contrast gow:coo opened to 150k, so I think it could at least sell 1 million.

GTA:LCS has no legs? (stardet 161k, now 2.04million), Tekken: DS has no legs? (stardet 36k, now 480k and million seller globaly) and there are many more games with very poor starts.

@Bod

yes I agree with all that you have said

That's a very different situation. It was a new IP on a console with a history of selling games with strong legs. This is a tested IP on a console with a history of rarely selling a copy after the first couple weeks. 1 million is extremely unlikely, and I'm not sure what Bod's reasoning is behind this hitting 1 million.

PSP games have a history of poor legs, and God of War as a franchise sells 1/3 as much in Others and Japan combined as it does in America. 1 million is very very unlikely.

@naznatips

thank you for understanding the point I was trying to make..

at this time last year, the psp sold over 40k. but this year, the psp sold over 70k. therefore, the psp sales increased.
