I don't get it, its just a spinoff game anyways, why so much hate?

The hate is because Other M failed. People wait for a long time. Than you see Blast Ball. Rage quit. It be like starving out in the desert. You find a town. Then to find out they have one loaf a bread left in the fridge.

Not a bad way of looking at it xD

I'm not gonna lie when I first saw the petition I was all in and about to sign it because I was really angry, but know I had some time to think about it and I finally see how silly and unnecesary this petition is because let's face it some people may look foward to this game and the developers should be able to release their work despite how unappealing (to say it nicely) looks (at least to me).

The best way to show nintendo we don't care about this game is not buying it, that's when it will hurt them the most, when the game flops (if it does, which to be honest seems very possible)

Would love to see the game crash and burn, just to send Nintendo a message

I'm all for voicing one's opinion and giving constructive criticism. That helps Nintendo plan future games and give consumers what they want. A petition to cancel a game is overboard, though. It's immature and hurtful to the developers who are pouring their heart and soul into making the game.

I didn't ask for MP:FF, either but I'll make the best of it and wait to see how the game plays before I judge it.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

at the very least they could have done a Prime Hunters 2, with the better tech of 3ds that coudl have been something

The game actually looks fun. *Runs*.

When the heck did Metriod fans become such babies? Were you crying when they made Metriod pinball? What about Prime Hunters? There is no reason to hate a game barely anyone has actually played and the thought process that the Metriod brand can' exist without the player being Samus or the exploration game play or in a different graphic style is foolish.

With that sort of logic, bigger franchises like Mario and the Legend of Zelda series would be poorer for with games like Yoshi's Island, Wind Waker or freaking Mario Kart would not exist. It is a game, buy or don't but act like you have some dignity and stop embarrassing the fan base as a whole.

This is a very reasonable response. You are approaching the game cautiously rather than writing it off based on one trailer. Some people calling for this game to be axed are under the impression that the game in it entirety is the futuristic soccer mode that is a seperate mode from the rest of the game. A lot of the people attacking this game think it is merely because it is Metroid Soccer, so most of the hate is out of ignorance.

It is fine if people do not want the game when it releases, provided that it is not a game that suits their tastes in gaming.
There are plenty of other people that will be happy to see the Metroid universe expanded upon. Plus the game has co-op.

What people fail to understand is that games like this perfectly suit a handheld console. It is more lighthearted and looks to be a fun to play on the go experience.
A fully fledged Metroid title makes more sense to be on the home consoles. If this game was a Wii U Metroid, I could see where the dislike is coming from. However, it is a handheld title. It is a good thing that this title is not overly ambitious.

Their is an IGN article of which they interview the creator and he says that he wants to continue the Prime universe, and this would lead into a game with Samus.

I'm sure the people making and signing the petition don't so much care about cancelling Blast Ball and Federation as they care about getting a proper HD Metroid in development. It's true that cancelling Blast Ball would likely free up resources for a HD Metroid but I think this petition is more of a statement meant to jar Nintendo into simply listening to its fans. Nintendo is really out of touch with what Metroid fans want this time and maybe creating a petition that's extreme enough to call for the cancellation of a game might get Nintendo to cue in and listen to what fans are begging for.

I don't think this petition is a bad idea. It's well known that Nintendo doesn't usually listen to petitions, so it has to be extreme to get their attention.

Pathetic, juvenile and over-entitled.

If you don't like it, don't buy it. Where was the outrage when Nintendo launched Metroid Prime: Pinball? Seriously, seriously pathetic, and a sad day for the industry when there are thousands of 'fans' who think in this manner.

I enjoy everybody bringing up Metroid Prime Pinball because they truly, truly do not understand why fans of the Metroid series would be so upset. To give perspective, Metroid Prime Pinball came out around the tail end of the Metroid boom. We had just gotten Metroid Prime 2 the year before, and the years prior had the GBA Metroid games as well as Metroid Prime 1. Not to mention the DS had already been promised Metroid Prime Hunters (a demo of it came with the original DS). Metroid Prime 3 came in 2007.

This came after a Metroid drought. There were no Metroid games since Other M in 2010, and that game was outsourced to a company that proceeded to turn out a flop of a game. There have been no good Metroid games since Prime 3 in 2007. Now, take a moment and imagine that your favorite series had no news of any kind of new game for 5+ years. Now imagine that a game is announced, but it's a generic looking spinoff announced in the most trollworthy way a game announcement could be made. Are you telling me you'd just say "well okay, I got a good game around eight years ago, and this is totally not what anybody was asking for, but OKAY"?

There's no need to add a hypothetical dimension to this. Metroid Prime has been one of my favourite games of all time since I first played it. Occassionally a I set aside a weekend to replay it and 100% it, it's sublime. I loved the sequels. I am seriously disappointed that there's no core Metroid title on the horizon.

But on no planet is an expression of my disappointment that equates to "cancel this game because it's not what I wanted" justifiable. Like I said, if people don't like it, and don't want Nintendo to try Metroid spin-offs in this manner, then there is the clear option of not buying. I'm adopting a wait and see approach to Federation Force.

If fans want to express their disillusionment, they could attempt something far more positive than "This game is an atrocity, cancel it". Seriously, atrocity? That's the language being used? Do they know what happens in the outside world? Set up a kickstarter, letting Nintendo know it's there to guage interest in Prime IV. Start a social media campaign calling for development on Prime IV to start, instead of demanding Next Level's game be scrapped. I'm as disappointed as any Metroid fan, but I'm not going to behave like a spoilt brat and lose all sense of proportion.
