Forums - Sony Discussion - Is it possible that The Last Guardian might be.............. boring?

Yes. I don't think this game will even come close to living up to the hype.

It's possible for any game to be boring.

It will easily live up to the hype for Ico fans. Its really a spiritual successor to that and that's what fans want.

I can't see any difference than the other TEAM ICO games, they were awesome, this is going in the same direction

I'd e surprised if a lot of modern gamers didn't think Last Guardian is (or rather, will be) boring. Team ICO has their own design vibe, similar to FromSoft & Platiinum. If you don't like their style, you probably won't like their games.

This thread is a reminder where today's mainstream gamer's mindset is at.

Maybe. I never played ICO, although I did play and liked Shadow of the Colossus. But I get the feeling it's unhealthy development cycle was there for a reason and that they didn't know what direction to take the game. I thought it looked bland to be honest. I did think bond between the kid and the animal was presented pretty well, although the kid calling for it already started to annoy me after the 5th time.

I thinking would be best for some modern gamers to temper their expectations for this title. Go back and watch video or, better yet, play some Ico and Shadow of the Collosus. The game wasn't typical then and it won't be typical when it comes out, regardless of what some here are labeling "modern game design." These games are as close to art as a major game gets. Enjoy the scene, the mood, the scope, and forgive the clunky animations and repetitive phrases that are bound to show up. And if you don't like it, it's not a big deal. It's just not your cup of tea. Again, these titles weren't popular when they released. They were hidden gems and those often get overhyped with time.

It didn't look that interesting to me to be honest. When I watched it, I thought, "Is this what people have be clamoring for, for years." Then Horizon showed up and IMO, stole the show.

I don't understand the concept, the kid was annoying, and it didn't look THAT better compared to the YT trailer from years ago.

I just might not "get it," as I haven't followed the hype for years and I also haven't played Ico and SoC. To me, it's a game I'm just not interested in.

Though I can see why some people may not end up liking the game, for it looks absolutely incredible. There's not a single game that comes close to it. I feel like the emotions that such a game can evoke are rare to find in a video game.
I was never a huge fan of TLG until E3. The game surprised me.
