Forums - Sony - Is it possible that The Last Guardian might be.............. boring?

Is it possible that ................................ you might not be into the game?!

Honestly though, they just showed a small segment of the game that dealt with platforming. Just like uncharted 4 mainly showed driving, there is clearly more to the game than that one segment. It does still seem that they have work to do, but from what they showed, they are on a good track (especially for a game that just came out of limbo)

To be honest i ahve my doubts it will be released, it very suspicious that the trailer not only has the same graphics as the last ones for the ps3 but also the stages and content are practically the same...

The dev team has come out and said that what they showed for the PS3 version was actually too much for the PS3 to run, which is why it was mired in development hell for so long. Team Ico knew what they wanted to do, but couldn't pull it off with last gen hardware. I hope more polish goes into Last Guardian before release, but at this point I just want a tangible copy in my hand.

TBH after boy was shouting 'Huuuugo?' for tenth time during 2 minutes video I was ready to break his neck. Not sure how it will be possible to tolerate it for 8-9 hours game. Also the animations were quite clunky, boy dropping into the environments... WTF were they doing all these years?

I am not sure if both you and OP have ever played Shadow of the Colossus, actually I wonder if you have.

The kid calling Trico must work exactly the same way it did for SOTC and you are the one pressing X to call on the creature. You are executing a commad for the creature to react, just like you would do with Wander to call on his horse Agro.

In the latest trailer when the platform is breaking up the person who played the game found himself with nowhere to go, he was going to die there but he remembered that Trico was there and that he could help him so he called him and Trico responded and saved the day.

This game is a 3D adventure/platformer/puzzle game, sequel to the two games that are the epitome of that genre combination. Anyone expecting something else may not like The Last Guardian, just like people who aren't interested in any of your favorite games won't find them any special either.

Looked fun to me and its actually something unique.

It seemed boring to me too but we haven't seen much of this game yet.

Everytime you see more gameplay you ruin your experience. The point of the game is to solve the puzzle in your surroundings in order to advance. The point of The Last Guardian as originally envisioned is that Trico will be a somewhat unpredictable creature that you will have to learn to understand and use in order to advance and solve the puzzles. You see a trailer, you learn how to resolve the current situation, you killed your chance of finding out for yourself.

I regretted watching that reveal for the above reason. But then I was also glad to see the possible game of the generation back alive.

You know that Ico and Shadow of the collosus were the same thing right? They werent exactly great games in the gameplay experience, but in the world and emotion they conveyed.
This game will be the same. A group of puzzles and an amazing world filled with emotion.

Ye of course this is possible, that was always a possibility. Lots of ppl find Ico and Shadow of the Colossus boring games, theyre very different and focus more in the art and emotional aspects of a game than the gameplay itself. I love those kinds of game, some ppl dont, to each theyre own.

Of course it will be boring, there's probably no shooting involve.

Ico was the same. Unless its more like SotC where the kid and the pet get to fight big monsters then that would be something else.

I am sorry, but i have to strongly disagree with that. The emotional bond is created through gameplay by how you interact with other characters. Ico with how he needed Yorda to solve puzzles and was resposible for her as well. SOTC with the bond between Wander and Agro and how Agro help you throughout the game to take down the giants.

There is emotion taken from the story, yes, but the cut-scenes are very few, in fact the story is minimalistic.

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus may be like 95% gameplay. Those games are far more about gameplay than story and are far, far away from being cinematic games/experiences a la Heavy Rain, Beyond, Walking Dead, Uncharted.

I dindt say anything about story I said art and emotion. And ye the gameplay exists to serve the artistical and emotional aspects of the game, wich ofentimes result in segments where youre just leading Yorda trough a long corridor without anything happening at all, or just riding on Agros backs trough a vast landscape, lots of ppl find that dead boring, if theres no action in theyre games they flip. I on the other hand love all forms of videogames but I understand that Team ICOs games are not for everyone.

I think the gameplay shown was masterfull, it clearly show us that the boy relys on Trico and that they both care for each other and have a conection, it also gave us a sense of lonliness and that the bond btween these two characters will only grow troughout the journey. Also showed us how they need each other in order to survive. The entire artistic vision of the game was there in a 6 minutes trailer, it was awesome imo but its slow gameplay, its deliberatly slow, some ppl hate that.
