We need the next edition of Super Metroid on Wii U.

If this is indeed the case with Metroid for the Nintendo higher ups, then I think it's bogus. The future of the series should not be determined by a game that only has the Metroid name slapped on to it. I've only played Hunters but Federation Task Force and FIFA just don't seem like Metroid.

As i see it either the abomination sells well and Nintendo decides this is the direction Metroid should take in the future, or it fails and NIntendo decides that there is no interest in Metroid

Considering this is supposed to be a spin-off game, the performance of this game shouldn't affect Nintendo's views on the demand and popularity for a new Metroid game.

It's like the Nuts and Bolts of Metroid. We wanted a Metroid game, but they gave us something that might as well have been a different IP, and that's why the internet is so salty about both. The difference is that we had been waiting through an entire gen for another Banjo game, with Metroid it's only been a few years. Regardless, they're probably still developing some massive Prime title for Wii U.

Nintendo needed an excuse to kill the franchise off and this is it.

They did say that Metroid is not as popular in Japan, so that is why they don't focus as much on it as games like Zelda or Mario but I do hope they give the Wii U a shot..

Ha, if Nintendo hasn't even started development on the new Metroid by 2016 then they probably already think it is done for.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force is a fucking spin off game. Seriously. I might just have to kill internet so I don't keep bumping into this dumb shit (which will happen for months until the next direct most likely)
