excellent! I'm thinking that this will widen the gap between Wii U and PS4 for a while. Nintendo needs to keep up this momentum. It won't drag consoles back to prominence, but a little resurgence would be fantastic for Nintendo.

I didn't think Splatoon looked that cool, then I tried the demo and thought it was somewhat fun so bought the game out of curiosity. Wow does the demo not do it justice. Honestly, and I have never said this before, in terms of Nintendo's multiplayer future I think Splatoon may have a more significant impact (as a game, the future dlc, and as a series) than future Mario kart iterations. I think it's that big. I don't think it will sell more than mario kart 8 this gen because 8 was and is a monster, but come NX time if they make another Splatoon (which I suspect they will) it may be massive.

The fact that this game is this fun, this appropriate, and this addicting despite not even having half of the features that we will get (probably all) for free is STUNNING.

For comparison, it would be as if Mario kart 8 launched with only 8 courses, no battle mode all with the promise that 16 more courses are coming and so is battle mode.

I'm waiting for the VGC numbers, but it seems like maybe Splatoon has managed to make a shooter become a hit in Japan. It seems like what it takes is a different aesthetic/gameplay. Amazing!
