Ah, so the stars you use to rate stages would be limited? |
In that game it is. But there is nothing similar to those stars in this game, so I guess it would be a different system. Probably we will have our answer in less than 20 hours

Same here. I may not have the patience to create good stage levels. But would love to play other stages that people have created and please no DLC stages or so

I was mocked for saying this could have mine craft sized potential by dozens of people on here!!! Magic middle finger to all the haters!

I've been saying Splatoon & Mario Maker have potential to be very big ever since they were revealed last E3.

I just don't see it doing well. It will appeal to the hardcore Nintendo fans but not that casuals. |
Because it's not as if MInecraft, a game built around user generated content, took the casual market by storm... :P

What I guess I'm trying to get at is that games like these are successful in part because of word-of-mouth advertising. I think it's why games like Minecraft and LittleBigPlanet have fantastic legs. Say, for example, someone was able to somehow mess with the engine of the game well enough that they managed to make an 8-bit classic RPG in the game. That person could then upload it to Youtube so that a lot of people could see it. Those people then think, "Wow, that's really amazing. I didn't know you could do that with that game." And then they go out and buy the game. I also think this game would benefit greatly from a twenty dollar price point -- or even a free-to-play model. At a lower price point, more people would buy the game and it would build a community that would be beneficial to the game in the long run. At 40 or even 60 dollars (which is what Amazon has it listed at -- yikes), the appeal is too limited for the investment. |
Well you dont really know if this game will be able to do that or not. Its not even out.
Its not gonna be that cheap or free to play.

I know 2D Mario is very popular, I just don't think people will be that interested in making their own levels. But maye I'm wrong. |
Minecraft? Little Big Planet? Hell the entire PC modding community.
Look at it this way, even if you dont want to make your own levels. You are technically playing a Mario game that could have infinte levels( or for as long as its supported). if that doesnt excite any gamer i dont know what will.
