i still prefer my fire tv for 49 bucks. it's the better hardware

I'm saying even for free the Vita TV couldn't appeal to a significant audience with what it offers.
Its kinda important what others think because platforms are dependent on people buying them. Nobody is buying Vita TV so its basically dead.

I paid $50 (with control and memory card) for mine and its more useless than I expected.
Espeically given Sony isn't doing a great job at increasing compatibility and getting notable apps.
We're getting the hardware dirt cheap for a reason.

And if you want to play Vita games, a Vita is the best option, since PSTV isn't fully compatible. Ok, it's cheaper, but you are losing half of thge library and the mobility. I will tell you the history of one of the first "microconsoles". It was launched in Brazil, by TecToy (that manufactured all Sega consoles in Brazil): the Zeebo. It packed a smartphone class hardware and launched during the last gen, being 3 or 4 times cheaper than a 360 or PS3 here. It had its own library and all games were digital. The downloads were made using a free 3G network provided by TecToy and the games were US$15 at most. As you see, it's very similar to current microconsoles. Zeebo flopped hard because you could get a PS2 for a little more and it had a massive library. Lesson is, cheap consoles don't have the horsepower to fight with the current gen ones (that have few games). But they reach the price point of the previous generation consoles, that have brilliant libraries. That's game over. |
Huh. That's an interesting post. Thanks for posting it.

Bet with Xander XT:
I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

I've had a different experience, because I've gotten far more use out of it than I'd expect.
