It's the best microconsole in the market, mainly because it doesn't only have Android games.

For games, I'd rather have a Vita TV than some Android based micro console.

But it lacks notable streaming services and that's a primary reason people buy these micro TV devices.

I don't understand why those devices are even advertised as microconsoles, when people don't even use them for games!

I doubt that's true. Quite honestly, there is some notable stuff on Amazon TV you won't find on Vita/Vita TV.

Understood, being its own platform worked out great.

yes, the price is cheap. Its probably the best bang for your buck if you know what games you have to buy and where to get the accessories

The problem is the games Vita has don't appeal to the masses. The best thing it has going for it is niche Japanese games.

Consumers are better off buying a 360 or PS3 ($80 - $120 used). It will cost more but they offer significantly more than Vita TV ever will.

pstv costs 40$ used

But its still useless to the average consumer. Even for free the Vita TV is pretty useless.

It doesn't have the most popular streaming services and the library is abysmal unless you enjoy niche Japanese games. Vita TV is a disaster and that's why its in the bargain bin.

those niche japanese games are better than most games out there

Agreed, now try to convince people that don't enjoy them.

Those style of games aren't selling particularly great on Xbox or Playstation either.

Yeah I agree, the vita TV really felt like a halfhearted attempt at trying to make the platform relevant again. It also did not help that Sony began shutting down services like Near and YouTube on the portable vita as well.

It was almost like they couldn't decide if it was worth investing in and so they did the write-off.

Not having Netflix and still no micro SD support seemed have kept many people away judging by what people are saying.

The only games that are notable and not a mobile game is GTA III and San Andreas. You're better of playing Gangastar, because those ports aren't good.

  • Xcom: Enemy Within
  • all the Telltale games (The Walking Dead Season 1 + 2, The Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones, Tales from the Borderlands) which will probably not run worse than the Vita version
  • Valiant Hearts
  • GTA Vice City
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Republic
  • The Cave
  • Modern Combat 4
  • Riptide 2
  • Asphalt 8
  • Goat Simulator ;)

All of which are better played on an actual console, or are just ripoffs of better games.

So it can't be a mobile game and it can't be a game that exists on another console and it can't be a game that is similar to a successful console/pc/handheld game?

Yeah, in that case, the Amazon Fire TV has no games. ;)

Oh and if game streaming (remote play) from a PS4 counts.... the Amazon Fire TV also supports in-house-streaming from a PC, which works fine
