Do your remember that deceiving hype for 3D back some years when Sony was pushing for 3D but never got anywhere and then Nintendo came up with the 3DS and 3D wasn't its biggest selling factor either?

Do you think Nintendo could push for VR with console NX? Maybe in a more accessible manner, like with the 3DS, possibly Virtual Reality without headset? Like 3D without glasses?

Do you think a Virtual Boy 2 could see better success by providing more varied shades of red to maximize potential?

I doubt it for two reasons:

1) Nintendo usually does their own thing. They don't really follow what everyone else is doing.
2) VR seems to be the complete opposite of what they're trying to achieve (i.e. local coop)

I think they'll see how VR fairs on the other platforms first before investing any money into a device or games of their own.

To answer your question, I have no idea what Nintendo will do with VR. I have no idea what Nintendo will ever do. They're unpredictable.

I doubt it will be this gen if they are going to do it. I think its too much of an investment with very little return when it comes to the wiiu cause of the install base

No. They already have problems with the Wii U. Why should they bring an new hardware?

I think last year, Miyamoto stated how they don't like the idea of VR headsets because it's like playing in the corner all by yourself. Many of Nintendo's big games focus on local multiplayer (Mario platformers/Mario Kart/Smash Bros/Splatoon/Mario Party) so it kinda goes against their vision of games.

They recently patented some 3D glasses that can utilize things like smell or wind blowing in ur face so perhaps they will make something based off that for their next console.

I hope not. This is gonna be a magnificent flop.
