The thing is I am a very skeptical person. I wouldn't be excited if I didn't have good reasons. This year is very critical and exciting because developers have had enough time to get acquainted with the PS4 and X1 and start creating big games. Nintendo and MS also have their backs against the wall to try and give it the old college try in their respective situations.
The X1 will sell well enough in its life cycle, but MS wants to do better than that and they have games they are not telling us about provided by their first party studios.
Nintendo are at a critical point in which they must try to push harder with the Wii U and 3DS. Especially the Wii U, I'm sure Nintendo will have an influx of hardcore games with the Wii U. The casual market isn't with them right now, so they have no choice but to keep pushing for the hardcore market, and they're still only a few million behind the X1 so in their minds they're probably thinking they still can make a difference; even if it is too late to catch up with the X1. It doesn't matter though because they will still be motivated.
Sony of course will show us more of UC4, Ratchet and Clank and many new games as well. I have no doubt based on how they love to show new offerings that they will provide some pleasant surprises.
Despite all of that creamy goodness though, it's the third party studios that have the real power, like they usually do, but there are so many more sought after games this E3 than usual. And there are plenty of surprises said to be at this E3 from third party studios.
