No, really man, I am. I'm totally appalled by your presumptuous ignorance. I don't think it's something to be proud, though. That said I'll leave you with some info and references.

The Emotion Engine is MIPS based, not a x86 Pentium. It was designed jointly by Toshiba and Sony. You should read some more.

What's hilarious is he started this thread to debunk something that never happened.

On top of that, many of the 'facts' to support his phantom argument have been debunked.

the emotion engine was not an invention like Cell.

it ran at 333mhz and was considered backdated compared about any INTEL/AMD processor of that era.

when ps3 was launched P3 1.4 ghz was widely available.

did you even check the link i posted??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_III

sony didnt spend a billion dollar on EE like the Cell. they might have spent 100 million at best.

I'm absolutely dying to know where you got that 100 million number.

And mhz isn't everything, especially when you're talking about a Windows machine that has to run an OS, uses unoptimized software, and a vast array of hardware.

But I'm sure you know that already.

Oh, and Larry, P3s were nowhere near 1.4 when the PS2 released in mid-2000. From wiki: "Pentium III Tualatins were released during 2001 until early 2002 at speeds of 1.0, 1.13, 1.2, 1.26, 1.33 and 1.4 GHz." I know this because I bought one of the first P4s on the market in late 2001 or early 2002... At a clock speed of 1.4. The 1.4 P3 wasn't even out yet.

You go read the links I've posted, in particular those by Jon "Hannibal" Stokes, co-founder and Senior CPU Editor at Arstechnica, of "Inside The Machine" fame. He knows a little more about CPUs than either you or me.

I'm sorry I had to add those in a Firefox edit, but Safari does not support linking.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

KruzeS, No Safari love on vgchartz, but you can just type the link as normal text, it will be parsed.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

Why would anyone want to read Ars when SonyFanboy.com is so much more straightforward and accurate?

"One wager behind this impressive tour de force is a $2 billion investment to produce the key element, the Emotion Engine. Sony calls it the world's first full 128-bit CPU. Jointly researched and developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and Toshiba Corp., the chip will be produced as a joint venture using new production lines within existing Toshiba clean-room production facilities in Oita, Japan." in IndustryWeek, June 7, 1999.

First it sold slow, now it was cheap crap when it came out... what's next?

Can we put a stop to all this PS2 bashing by Sony fans?

I'd like to nominate this for Quote of the Day. Absolutely hilarious.
