I was also very skinny, but going to the gym is the best now. Seeing the results and hearing how everyone notes it is amazing. Go for it.

You can't go to the gym because you're skinny? I can't accept that excuse m8. We all start somewhere!

How is being skinny a reason to not go to the gym? It is actually a good thing.

You just need to start packing on some size and building your strength up. You need to have a calorie deficit every day to start putting on size.

I eat 6 meals a day, spaced 2-3 hours apart. I am on 3200 calories a day and that is just a lean bulk.

I'm so frustrated that after a week or two not going to the gym my small muscles goes even smaller -.-

Muscle you gain cannot be lost; I don't think atrophy would have been that significant after a week, but you never know. If it's about size, do bodyweight exercises like push ups during the day to get your pump up until you can go to the gym

Well, that's sorta true, but sorta not true. While muscle cells themselves aren't lost (unless you go like a month without food or some extreme shit), your muscles can still lose mass if you don't train regularly. However training up muscle cells that are already there is a lot easier than forming new muscle cells, which is why it's a lot easier to get *back* to shape than it is to *get* to shape.

Same is true for fat cells btw, fat cells don't dissapear even though you lose fat, they just get smaller (That's a very non-scientific explanation, but it works).

I think the word you are looking for is surplus, if wanting to gain size

AKA atrophy. I kinda figured he was lamenting his loss in size, which to be honest I don't think there was a significant loss in size over the period of a week. That's why I recommended doing push ups during the day to get the muscle pump going in order to look bigger haha.

Could be muscular dysmorphia as well but I kinda figure everybody has that.

Oh shit yeah meant surplus! Should have reread my comment

Weighed in today and in the last six weeks I've lost over fifty pounds. Hasn't been as difficult as I had anticipated, I mean the shakes and protein bars are dog shit, and the portions for my regular meals are drastically lower than what I had been accustomed to, but I haven't really had any cravings, even managed to give up soda.

Started lifting again too with these adjustable dumbbells. Guy who's helping me with this has me starting slow, just a few different exercises a couple times a week, trying to ease my body back into the groove to limit soreness and the discouragement that often accompanies it. Was a bit more of an adjustment to the lower weight higher reps routine than I thought though, since my instincts tell me to throw on as much weight as possible, had to do a lost of adjusting to find a good starting point but it's getting better now.

You guys have probably been reading too much into this.

Whether you're doing high intensity or high volume exercises, for the next few days, your body will pump blood and water that's full of nutritions to fix the damage you did to your muscles. After a week or so, the micro tears in your muscles have all been healed healed, and everything returned to normal.

If you liked how your body felt, then rework your schedule and try a new routine that works every muscle twice a week.

Oh, I forgot that this thread exists. It's your fault RomTom.

So yeah, it's been about a month and half since I've starting lifting again after a two year long "break". I didn't have a choice really. My brother flew over to visit me on his vacation and he's been pestering me to get back every time I called him. Bodybuilding is not just a fetish for him you see, it's also his second job. We both got a membership to the closest gym to my apartment. Fun place, lots of awesome and polite juice heads. I couldn't afford the membership nor the protein shakes (which is one of the reasons I stopped) so he bought everything for me! T^T

It's frustrating when you look at the weights you used to lift while the vague image of what you looked like is constantly on your mind, then you try to start with 40lb, then realize you could barely lift 25lb. The most difficult part was the food. I dislike meat, and I don't enjoy eating chicken everyday. I also barely ate three meals, or got the minimum amount of nutritions my body needed every day. So every meal my 198lb meat loving brother cooked was difficult to get down at first. Now I get hungry every two hours.

On the first month, I've used almost double the weights I've used the week before. Now I can comfortably bench press 100lb with dumbbells. Stopped smoking, and I feel a lot better, mentally and physically. Though I'm not sure if want to continue. I can't tell if got back to lifting weights because it's something I want or just to humor my brother. It's an expensive and time consuming lifestyle/hobby.

Why not try out your University gym? It should be included in your tuition or they at least should give you a discount. Meal prep definitely saves you time and money; as long as you don't get tired of eating the same food for a week. I'm an Oatmeal in the morning and leftovers for lunch/supper type of eater.

My brother couldn't use it and it's missing a lot of important machines. I also prefer to cook my own food.

Have you ever tried making a fruit cocktail with oatmeal? It tastes like frozen yogurt!

I shall try this. Going gym in a few hours and it is chest day so I should be able to try out a few new things :)
