Forums - Nintendo - Splatoon Update #1 Impressions: Zapper, Port Mackerel, Splat Zones!

I've ONLY had matches that were shutouts. Three in my favor, two not. Actually, wait, no, we had one close match.

The current maps really aren't set up too well for SplatZones honestly.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Anyone just completely lose connection to Splatoon?

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Arowana mall is an absolute garbage map for splat zones.

lel, about to try it for myself!

Also played on Salt Spray but there was waaay too much going on every second for me to pay attention to how much the Inkstrike was doing, group I was in was pretty high level! I mean sure, sometimes the Zone went from our cap to their cap after and Inkstrike, but the zone was also being attacked by their main weapons, and likewise their Inkstrike didn't even neutralize our zone with all of us shooting at the impact site. Also, the zone appears to be the same size as Urchin Underpass n Walleye Warehouse, it probably just seems smaller because there's walls n barriers inside of it.

Well I would enjoy splatzone if only my internet is stable enough not to disconnect me in the middle of a game, gah, If we could go beyond C- I would be an F -_-. And I only tried the NES Zapper once, after I used my current weapon, its the only thing I use now, and Port Mackerel is okay I guess, it's just a flat map so quite easy to vandalize the place lol.

I love Splat Zones. Ranked matches are really intense when both teams are good. I also really like how intense the new map is. One wrong turn and you got a roller in your face. I have been destroying in turf wars, so its really great to play in ranked matches. Splatoon gets better and better.

Port Mackeral has stleathed itself up to being my favourite map so far. I like long and narrow maps appearently becasue so far my favourites were Arowana Mall and Walleye Warehouse.
Ranked battle is intense. Now that I've worked out strategies on turf war to push my team, it feels a little like having to learn the all over game again. I havent played it much so far and went into the single player instead. I feel like I'll have to play the hell out of Splatzones to get really good at it though....:/

I played one hour last night and loved both the new map and the new mode. Maybe because last night I was on fire and the gaming session went really well for me and the way you perform on a given map or mode tends to influence how much you like it.

So far I'm loving the map and mode but next time things might completely turn around for me. I'll need a bit more playing time to have a better-founded opinion.

Splat zones are fun intensive combats! I've seen people use effectively every weapon there. The best thing about splat zones is that you can increase both level and rank at the same time. I was thinking they'd seperate the grading between regular and ranked battles.

Yesterday evening I only played ranked battles, so I didn't get the opporunity to try Port Mackerel (it was only available in regular). Tried the Zapper once but it didn't stick.

Splat Zone is very intense and nonstop action, I think I like it more than Turf Wars.
