Forums - Sony - Persona 5 will sell over 2 million units on PS3+4

You're right, it will surely be the game of the generation, at least! (ok, I'm biased too, P4G is my favorite game ever)

It could hit 2 millions sales, but it depends on the marketing and release dates. We'll see at E3 how much Sony puts in it.

~2.3 lifetime on PS4.

IT does seem a bit like Persona 5 could be this years FE Awakening, the "Mainstreamification" of the series (It'll still be relatively niche though )

I wish Sony would market this game like they did the Final Fantasy games back in the PS1 era, but I don't see that happening. Either way, I'm predicting 1.5 million or so.

This game is so good, i'm really hesitating to buy it, there is a risk, the risk im really sad when i finish it and then i cant play to any other game after that, this is what P4G did to me, i needed a break after that strong experience

Not sure P5 can top that

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Very doubtful. The series has yet to eclipse the 0.5m mark in Japan and that's where a good chunk of the sales are going to come from.

I'm pretty sure that the original Persona passed 500k.

EDIT: Never mind, it's actually 400k.

I think a factor with P4G on PSV selling very well is because of a complete lack of other games. Any store that has a Vita section only has a small selections of games so no doubt a considerable sum of purchases could be a case of people saying "wth is this? Meh sure why not?" or seeing any list of PSV games with P4G being ranked as a 90+ Metacritic game.

I bought it for that reason, I had no clue what the game was about other than it was "Vita's best game" :D

Persona 4 Golden was a remake on a dead platform and it shipped 700k. Persona 5 will make a million for sure. 1.5m is probably my prediction right now. It might make 2m but it'll be difficult.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Safe prediction :p

Edit: Judging by the responses I guess its not safe according to VGC users lol. People expecting it to struggle past 1m haven't been paying attention to growth of the franchise, the significance of the PS4 userbase (Highly active! Much bigger then Vita) and the complete lack of quality JRPGs or even just top tier exclusives on the system.

I thought Bloodborne is considered top tier exclusive. I myself consider Infamous: Second Son a top tier exclusive.

Bloodborne is indeed! Second Son is great I'm sure but it didn't garner enough critical acclaim to force people into checking it out. Of the last 12months I think Bloodborne and Witcher 3 are the only top tier games out on PS4/X1 full stop, in this I'm refering to their quality as decided by critical reception (high 80s/90+ meta). Such games become talking points and a lot of informed, industry invested gamers end up checking them out, giving them long legs and sales that go beyond the initial appeal of the genre/game.
