Forums - Nintendo - Splatoon DLC Incoming Today!!!

The whole discussion is useless, the game is complete, Nintendo has handled this on its own ways, as always, and that is GOOD.

They need it to build up the comunity before making an epic mesh as so many online games this days  does on consoles where you even have to pay for it, is hard to start with a new IP that need a big comunity to work, is very risky, so they need it to do what they are doing. Thanks to that, people is training, is getting confortable, comunity will grow, and the online works p-e-r-f-e-c-t. They were doing the right thing, and everybody has punish them for that, just because they are different, again, as always. I knew most of the content is already on disc, they weren´t lazy, and they didn´t rush anything. All that are lies. and now we know it.

Yep that's how most would respond to what you said!

The point is to keep interest, you don't wait until it starts falling. Doing something is obviously better for maintaining than doing nothing. They have plenty of updates loaded up so no reason not to start earlier than expected surprising and hyping people up. Lastly, I'm confident in saying that you are the only one on the planet who would be annoyed from getting a new map, mode, and weapon!

Four days after launch when it was clearly good to go with the game from release; yes, that's utterly meaningless. Don't make it something it's not. Content does not annoy me, the way it is delivered and withheld in this case, does, that's a huge difference.

And, no, I'm probably far from the only person who would be annoyed by that. And the whole pro-active stance is fine, but 4 days shows that that's not what this is about, this is like me throwing out a customer from a bar when he just paid for his first beer, in case he gets drunk.
The argument simply doesn't work and your insistence on applying rather underhanded tactics against my posts shows that you've probably realized this somewhere down the line.

PS: I think that "most people" actually see it the way I do, if opinions on this forum is anything to go by. A few weeks or a month; cool, more stuff! 4 days? Why on earth was this not available to me right away?

As someone who plays Splatoon since last Thursday on a daily basis I can only tell you: I couldnt care less and absolutely do not understand your complaints. Why do you feel entitled to talk about the feelings of the people playing the game if you obviously are not part of that group?

Mummelmann, do you have a WiiU and the game? If not, how do you know the feelings of ones who have it and played it?

No I don't, and that's not my point. I don't need to own it to dislike the strategy of releasing one map, one weapon and one new mode after four days in response to complaints about low content at launch. This is a general statement that many agree with; many developers release games with low content and I don't approve of it, especially for bigger budget productions from great developers.

My gripe is with the argument that it is a pro-active stance to "keep interest" in the title, when this makes zero sense after 4 days and they might as well have packed the extra content with the game from launch.

I'm not talking about the feelings of those who have played spefically (although, if you read reviews, you would see that this is a view shared by most of them), I'm talking about the fact that I think it's ridiculous to withhold content from launch only to release a small bit after only 4 days, seems more like a mockery than a fan service and there is absolutely no sound reasoning for why this content wasn't available at launch.

It's not a huge deal when all is said and done, and I'm glad people are enjoying it, but this is my opinion of a solution that I think is unfair to gamers and customers (and reviewers). Reviewers complained about lack of content (rightly so, the amount of customization alone is grounds for that imo); content that was clearly already good to go releases four days after launch. It's shooting yourself in the foot and disrespectful to the customer.

Like I've said; a larger update after a month or a few weeks would be one thing; one weapon, one mode and one map after four days is a complete mockery and has nothing to do with "keeping interest" in the title, in my opinion.

Edit; since when are we not allowed to have opinions on games we do not own? That's a huge part of the discussions on these boards. And I'm not "punishing" Nintendo for "being different"; I'm commenting on a practice I deem unfair, just like I do with all the other unfair practices by other developers in here (I'm known as one of the biggest critics of the industry on the whole site).

They are complaints over a practice I don't approve of, just like my complaints over titles like Assassin's Creed: Unity (that I do not own), Driveclub (that I do not own), GTA V Online (that I have never played), Sim City 4 (that I do not own), Diablo III (that I stopped playing due to annoyances surrounding design choices and always online), and dozens of other titles, most of which I never owned.
Most users discuss titles they don't own, almost on a daily basis, why is Splatoon excempt from this discussion?

So, I ask again, are we to stop discussing games and/or business practices if we don't own the product? I don't own any Apple products either but I feel like I have the right to express my displeasure at their closed business models and unfair treatment of 3rd parties.

I'm sorry, man, but are you a gamer or just like complaining about things in public? )))

most people who complain about games and consoles on the internet never touched those once in their life.

I guess many many poeple just looking for anything they could find "bad" about a game they cant get (because they dont have the hardware (console) or whatever). If they keep telling themselfs (and others) that this product is bad they can justify the "not-playing" alot better to themselfs. "If anything is bad i dont need it anyway".

Welcome to the internet 2015.

btw. i think its awesome what nintendo did.

If i got a call of duty game or whatever in the past i sucked the first ~10 hours hard in online just because i didnt know the maps. Also i never played many gamemodes because i was just overhelmed. COD has like 20+ gamemmodes and i played everytime just 3-4 (teamdm, ffa,...). I never touched many of the other gamemodes just because they were sooo many and i just wanna play and dont wanted to test like 10+ gamemodes to see if i like them.

We have a saying in germany "What the farmer doesnt know he doesnt eat". I did know that i like teamdm and i did know how to play this mode. I didnt want to learn how to play 10+ more modes at once, thats just not fun so i mostly sticked to what i did know.

If Nintendo release a new mode every month thats just perfect.

I'm a gamer who doesn't like where the industry is headed, it's not that uncommon. I do complain but I also give credit where credit is due.

JNK; thank you for your analysis, you got me pegged. I'm just complaining because I don't have and can't have the game for some reason (and I'm also saying that the game is just bad, clearly). Do I also live in my mother's basement and try to shy away from girls? That would make the circle complete and you've obviously spent time to get to know me as a member in here.

there is no reason to complain / say critics to anything you never touched, sorry.

btw i dont said youre doing this. i said its very common now a days for many many peoples. Ever saw a 1star rating on amazon as an "verified purchase"?

Are you likening criticizing games with 1 star reviews on Amazon?

Why can't I or anyone else complain about something we never touched? Have you gotten the gist of what most discussions on this board are about? What's wrong with taking a philosophical or principal stance against practices that seem unfriendly and/or unfair to consumers?

I have not played Assassin's Creed: Unity, but I know it was a hot mess when it came out, should I be disallowed from discussing the fact that it was/is a hot mess on the grounds that I don't own it? The immense trobles surrounding the online components in Sim City, is that off limits as well?

Microsoft were given a huge fine and forced to make Windows extensions open source in order to allow 3rd parties the chance to develop and release services and their own extensions on the world's biggest and most common OS, effectively breaking a monopoly trend that was harmful to everyone; should I not be allowed to discuss that since I never touched a developer tool in Windows?

This logic just doesn't hold; especially on a website forum made for discussion. About video games. The very idea is absurd to me, it reminds me of those who say that only people with a degree in political sciences should discuss politics, only dietitians should discuss diets etc.

PS: By adressing a member who was clearly quoting me, you are more than implying that I am in fact, doing "this".
