Yeah it's sad, I was so hyped for it and I thought with Gears 4 they had a right direction and would build on it. I can't think of a single thing it did better than previous Gears except Judgment. And even Judgment had Overrun which made it overall a more enjoyable versus game. I read there'll be a title update soon so thumbs up it'll improve. Not holding my breath though, it's so full of bizarre design choices. It hardly feels like a Gears game anymore :/ |
I made a long post but lost it so I will summarise what I said.
Maps - to big, to open, not enough cover for movement and lack of Gnasher brawling areas.
Weapons - Lancer hits like a mulcher, Lack of Gnasher brawling areas and the Gnasher 1 hit kills at 3 miles away which also takes away the thrill of Gnasher brawls and needing to hit them a few times to down.
I feel a lot of the issues arise from them targeting Arcade as their main game mode and it just knocked on to Core modes in a bad way.
Hopefully new maps and older maps brought back help solve the map problems and hope for weapon balance to get sorted out but that will take quite a lot fo time.
I haven't played co-op online yet but I imagine that still plays good so that's something to look forward to.
