Klobrille on Crackdown 3 (take it with a grain of salt)

Without going into any kind of specifics what I learned is that Crackdown 3 is a bigger game than I thought it would be - and you know I already always was pretty hyped about it. Both in terms of content scope and budget. Contrary to what I've read here, the game without a doubt could've been released in Nov. There was primary one big voice within Microsoft stopping this though - and the budget of the project once more got raised significantly. (Personal annotation: while the name never was written, I think he indeed meant Phil, "to make sure the IP stays relevant in future"). The additional development time wasn't used for just polishing. It also allowed both Sumo and Ruffian to add more features to the two distinct game modes (Reagent Games seems super small today, only overlooking the project). Game runs in native 4K on Xbox One X. No performance mode. "Significantly more meaningful" transformation cars. More on the game to come "soon" now - couldn't confirm E3 showing. I got ensured the game has "significantly improved" compared to the last showing.

Hope that the improvements were big, honestly the gameplay reveal did not wow me especially when you compare it to all the open world sandbox games this gen. The gunplay needs a massive overhaul imo.

Just got a monitor for competitive gaming. When I was younger and played games on a 37” tv my aiming was on point. I now play on a 65” 4K lg. The input lag is 28ms and I have to sit so far away from it that I know my gunplay is lacking. I’m still good at shooters. Got a 50 in halo 3, onyx’s in 5, rank 400 in pubg solo. My aiming isn’t as good as I like it so I decided to pick up a 28” 4K hdr monitor with 1ms delay. Can’t wait to try it out.

One of the reasons why I stick with my 1440P panel as my "gaming display" rather than use the TV.

You can reduce the input lag on many TV's though by turning allot of the unnecessary rubbish and processing... But difficult to eliminate it entirely.

<SNIP>

I always thought Crackdown 3 looked bland and uninspiring with the visuals to match.
I'll reserve my complete judgment once the game drops though, it may surprise.

ZhugeEX backed up Klobrille rumor but he also mentioned that there might be something that fans are a little disappointed at. I think they probably scaled back the multi-player but kept the destruction so it could be limited.

I honestly wouldn't mind if that were the case especially if they put more focus on the campaign, looks like Phil really believes in the project if he injected more money into it.

I had hoped that Crackdown 3's delay was to make improvements after the meh reception it got last E3. Hopefully they significantly improved the graphics and gameplay. Glad to hear it got a bigger budget. And I personally don't care if the cloud destruction was toned back, I only care about the singleplayer, I want it to be as good as possible.

Yeah I care more about the Campaign than MP, but if MS wants the MP to be competitive then they need to change the gunplay/gameplay if the want it to be balanced.

Jez comments on Klobrilles Crackdown info: Heard similar, especially RE: IP being relevant in the future. Heard that it has been significantly improved since last summer, but I've also heard from a few places that, because they want it to be "up there" with Halo/Gears/Forza, that it could get delayed even further. I'd rather see them delay it to improve scope/quality, make it as good as it can be.

Phil said they already ha e a date set for Crackdown 3. Imo it should release August or December.

If they want Crackdown to be up there with Halo, Gears, and Forza, this next/last E3 showing for it better blow everybody out the water. What we've seen so far is nothing special.

More Crackdown info from Klobrille

Question: Can you maybe give a clue as to what these improvements are? Is it in terms of visuals or animations? Or have they made the game world more lively/detailed

Klobrille Said:
Improvements are made across all areas, especially the latter. It won't be too long until everyone sees the game again anyway as E3 is close.

Question: How long is the expected CD3 delay going to be? 2019 or later would be a PR disaster.

Klobrille Said: CD3 is not 2019 - afaik.
