Microsoft wants service based games. I hope sea of thieves is successful because if it isn't don't be surprise if rare gets closed down. Microsoft wants that one game that keeps a studio going.

They should not shut down Rare, the last thing that MS needs is more negative PR.

Most consumers don't even know about these studios that make the games, only us hardcore gamers. MS is making a profit and they don't want to screw that up. If that means trimming the fat than they will do it.

"Trimming the fat"? Right now Microsoft's first party studios collectively are like christian bell from the movie insomnia. Nothing left to shed

Here's a pic for reference

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

If they don't make money, then it's bye bye. Microsoft can easily do contracts with second party like play ground games Forza Horizon series or State of Decay with undead labs. Having second party is cheaper than having first party.

So if the game is good and shows that the devs are talented but doesn't sell well U think they should axe the devs? Why not just have them work on something different.

Cost of running a first party team is a lot more than having a second party team that you can contract games out to. If the game fails and nothing to fall back on it drains your money which means less investment for xbox in the long run. Xbox is on a budget like every other console. The only time xbox will get the green light to spend a lot of money (such as buyouts) if it's a safe investment like Minecraft, havoc, Gears of war, potentially pubg, ect.

I agree with Snoopy for the most part. I just don't see why they have teams working on these games that let's be honest more than likely won't sell shit. Sea of Thieves(im not sure what is going on totally either) and Super Lucky Tales. All this time put into these games could've been put into something with a decent chance.
I see MS side as putting games out period and catering to a wider audience. There's just no way I'm hitching my wagon to that. Lile i said it to me is just wasted resources for little ROI. Sea of Thieves has to be a hit IMO.

@Bold, If it's available on Xbox, It's eligible to be voted for....

That would mean CoD and Destiny 2 wins every category, I don't wanna look like a dude bro.

Surely you're joking. Destiny is a joke

That is the internet for you.

Sea of Thieves, Super Lucky Tale, Cuphead, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Halo Wars 2, PUBG etc.

"Ah, those won't sell. What were they thinking?!"

Announcing a new Halo, Gears, Forza, Minecraft

"Ah MS milking again! They should invest more in new IPs, broaden their approach, support single player games, etc)

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

MS and their obsession with controllers I really like how many different controllers they release but they should also be that engaged with developing games to use these controllers.
