Well I just got an Xbox One S about 2 weeks ago (first Xbox console ever). Already got everything worth playing on it (except for Horizon 3). And I'm ready to add some users to my friends list because all my friends are on PS4/Switch :/

LOL Nice save. Aim low to save the validity of the vote.

Fable = Already established big fanbase which hasn't got a mainline entry in years and lots of people have asked Fable IV or Reboot.

New IP = No previous fanbase, user voting would have to come up with the idea themselves.

Validity lmao, It's just as simple as people wanting a new Fable over a new IP, though you've already shown you don't like or understand Fable so of course you'll be questioning the validity of the poll.

I understand Fable. I invested in the promise of it in the 360 era and am over it, because it was oversold and underdeveloped. I also got Mass Effect and Dragon Age around the time I got Fable and felt Fable was an RPG on training wheels after part one. Microsoft needs a new IP that that can reach a larger audience this gen more than ever. Remember, Every Microsoft generation has one hit game per generation that makes people buy Xboxes. First gen was Halo and the second is Gears. If you aim low as a console maker with first party then that stands to reason as to why their first party isnt percieved to be on level with their competition. Instead of being complacent I actually want Microsoft to grow. My demand is that they grow from a creative aspect. They are already a great business. I mean...I liked Killzone...but as a company I am glad Sony and guerilla realized it was a franchise wasnt going to grow, excecised their creativity and now Horizon is born. Microsoft must do the same.

The way I see it is Fable is more of a sure thing than a new IP. The Fable series has consistently sold over 3m (2 and 3 sold over 4m). Meanwhile no new MS IP so far this gen has managed to crack the 2m barrier. A Fable reboot that gets at least an 85 meta will surely sell over 3m copies, whereas MS finding a new IP that could sell 3m+ is a crapshoot. A new Fable is simply Microsoft's best chance of releasing a successful game this generation that isn't Halo/Gears/Forza. It helps that I also love the Fable franchise personally.

For what it's worth, I also think that a 3rd person Halo RPG-shooter and a Perfect Dark 3rd person action-adventure-stealth reboot (think Tomb Raider reboot) woud also have a better chance of success than a new IP. I have nothing against new IP and I hope that MS does have some AAA new IP in the works as well because I want to see them find their next Halo/Gears, but they need to release a Fable reboot, a Perfect Dark reboot, and a Halo RPG as well, so that they have some successful games while they're taking shots in the dark at creating a successful new IP.

Microsoft needs to find out what their identity is and make games surrounding that idea. My bet for a standing title is that they will throw everything  into Crackdown and hopefully put up a new IP. If they can resurface Fable in a major way thats cool too but for the health of their current situation their marketshare is not what it was last gen and Microsoft needs to make first party that the existing group of Xbox gamers and to buy and will make other gamers want to pick up a Xbox. Hopefully they can. What Microsoft needs to be doing to compete is expanding their catalogue with games that essentially sell their mission statement on gaming (Thats what their competiton does). Im not saying be the competition, but find something that makes them unique and can only be expressed properly on their console.

They can make all new IP and won't mean shit if the fanbase doesn't branch out and try other games. This is the problem. They're doing what will sell.

I would personally prefer a new IP over reboot/sequel of existing one. Just because in case of first-party Xbox games this gen I've enjoyed new IPs way more than the sequels. But unfortunately it's all about money so MS will definitely prefer to fund something that will sell better.

I'd take a fable reboot over a new ip. I missed the fable games. It essentially would be a new ip for me. As well as many others. The last came out 7 or so years ago.

A perfect dark reboot would be very welcome too. Think of how many gamers missed that gem on the Nintendo 64.

Why do you think so? I don't remember any hate towards Japanese games from him.

He does obviously not "hate" them. He may prefer Western games which is no surprise, most people outside of Japan and a few other countries prefer "Western" games in general and everyone has preferences. If it's about which region a game comes from or which genre it is.

He might be a guy who doesn't want to pay Japanese devs to bring their games also to Xbox One (and it seems that's the only way that they would bring it to XBO) but that doesn't mean he hates the games, it just means he hates to pay for games to come to XBO.

And that many Japanese devs don't even bring some of their bigger games to XBO is also their fault. Not sure if they expect to get paid or something but for some games there is just no reason to act as if there is no XBO.

Yes, he even said that Japanese devs are interested in Scorpio. Still we don't know what devs and publishers he visited but unfortunately right now I don't see the result of this trip. A lot of Japanese games which get announced are PS4/Switch and Switch has just released recently.
