Forums - Gaming - CEO Of R* Says PS4/XB1 Power Nowhere Near Realized Yet

Why didn't they use the power then? Yeah, sure the API's can be better utilized, but the power is limited. It is what it is and that is what it is. So do engines get tweaked to become more efficient and run better and longer with more time spent with them? Yup. Same thing. Art is only as good as it creator, but red is red, blue is blue and green is still green.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

But the problem with comparing games that do not come from the same dev and series is it could easily be due to lack of budget/development time of a game as opposed to what a game early gen was capable of. We will have to disagree.

Same dev and series then? OK.

Treyarch 2006

Treyarch 2012

Call Of Duty 3 right? This is a cross gen game, I'd hardly consider COD Ghosts an example of a dev trying to max the power of XBone or PS4.

Two things:

1) That's not COD Ghosts

2) It's clearly labelled as PS3, not PS4 or Xbone.

Gotcha, I'm just saying it's hardly a comparison to say that a cross gen game looks a lot better years later with an exclusive game. (and I was talking about COD3 being a PS2 to PS3 game, not Ghosts, I was just giving another example.)

Then I refer you to Zekkyou's comparison of GTA4 to GTA5.

Or...

Weren't these already used? Yeah there is a jump, but not to the point where we can say that "the PS3's power was Nowhere near realized".

The original Uncharted used only about 30% of the PS3's SPUs.

Indeed they did.

What happened with the PS3 was that as the gen progressed, devs learned to farm out more tasks to it's satellite processors, which freed up the GPU to do other stuff, because taken on its own terms, the GPU was weaker than the one in the 360, and it needed the CPU's help to close the gap.

You missed the point. You took GOW III as the base of what PS3 could achieve early in the gen, even though the game is one of the best looking PS3 games to date. So comparing one of the best looking PS3 games to another one of the best looking PS3 games obviously wouldn't show the leap in graphics. You don't always need to compare games in a particular series. Instead you should compare PS3 games in 2006 and 2013, then you'll see a huge difference.

I wasn't even the one who brought GOW up. Someone was trying to use Ascension and I was just comparing what they achieved in Ascension ot what the dev was able to achieve years earlier. But no, it doesn't show this huge leap forward as far as graphics are concerned.

It does. Curl-6 showed you, torok showed, I told you, but you refuse to believe. I guess the discussion ends here, you obviously clearly never had a PS3 or played any game on PS3. Now I feel I wasted my time with this argument since you refuse to listen anyhow.
