Thats funny, I seem to remember a certain Brett Walton (ioi) doing the exact same thing on websites like GAF when he was promoting VGChartz back in 06. At that time Brett thought he was doing nothing wrong but was eventually banned for continued self promotion and for making up fake numbers on VGchartz.

Funny how this has happened again except Brett is the one doing the banning.

But hey, I expect this post to be deleted by the mods and me to be banned or something...

Thanks for the transparceny. Although I don't do much posting I read the forums daily and seeing things like this show the mod teams best intentions. That said I feel that Banning Jaywood prematurely and based on what I read in that IM log was really unecesarry. When you look at Alexa you notice the site is deterioating in traffic year over year. Removing an active and consistent contributor just hurts the site in the long runb even if he was "building a brand".

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. On one hand, posting content on the site is not bad, I think. But on the other hand, doing research without explicitly stating so is not fine at all.

I guess this feels like a bit of an overreaction.

What is there really to discuss in terms of "going forward"? The mods aren't changing their minds on the silly ban. One of the better and more active users here is still banned. So...
