Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Fans Vs. Third-Party Developers & Entitlement

Soundwave said:
The truth is though the "Nintendo fan who really wants the hyper violent third party games on their console" gamer itself is a small crowd to begin with.

Even on the GameCube, back when it would get legitimately good third party ports or exclusives like the Resident Evil games, the sales were relatively underwhelming compared to the PS2 or even XBox for similar kinds of titles. This is why Capcom bailed on exclusivity for Resident Evil and other Capcom Five titles, the sales were just not good enough to justify exclusivity.

Most Nintendo "fans" buy a Nintendo console a speciality secondary device primarily to get their Nintendo family game fix and it's been that way since the N64 era.

Sony (and MS) have laid claim to being the real "go to" console for the general mainstream third party variety title. And the thing is, they suit the general third party blockbuster (which is either a violent action game of some type or a jock-centric sports game in most cases) because that is the same audience Sony/MS market and design their consoles to 100%, whereas Nintendo still prefers to make 90% of their internal content so sugary sweet it'd make Walt Disney himself blush.

So I mean I think we're all just past this. Sure there is a crowd of Nintendo fans who are online who still gripe about not getting third party game X/Y/Z, but they're not really even representative of the general Nintendo fanbase as a whole who are content just playing Mario Kart, Smash, etc. Most of them own a Playstation or XBox console as well, so they're not deprived of anything to begin with.

Nintendo are what they are, but what that is is a speciality side console maker that makes fun family-centric consoles with toy-like charm. But they're not really a go to place for what the modern day third party blockbuster IP is. The last time Nintendo themselves had a *real* blockbuster hit with the older player demographic was GoldenEye and that was like 18 years ago now, lol.

SHUT UP ALREADY.

you keep talking about nintendo fans buying and playing habits but there's a little detail: YOU ARE NOT A NINTENDO FANS, YOU ARE JUS ANOTHER NINTENDO HATER. there's no point in spouting your garbage, everyone knows you are just hating.

I love how haters ignore the reality that nintendo fans are the most/one of the most hardcore around and buys games (both first and third) like anyone else. it's simply hard to buy inexistent third party games and self sabotaged games like everything EA put on wii u, watch dogs, deus ex...

I think third parties will be succesful on NX.

If you only knew how that phrase lives up in german. ^^

Fact is, Nintendofans for the most are buying nothing other than Nintendo right now. Either they're not interested at all or buy every non-Nintendo game for other consoles. With a very small minoritiy left that's buying third party.

And that goes for indy games as well.

you clearly don't know what you're talking about and is just hating.

Basically no third party retail game selling, Bayonetta 2 likely overtracked at VGC, Zombi U as well...

Indy devs saying they dont sell enough...

Yep. I am just hatin for sure.

I bought third party retail for Wii U as well as indy titles. Most Wii U owners are not though.

Look at the e-shop charts. Not only for one week but a biggertimeframe. Most of the time there is not one indy at all in the charts. More and more indy devs themself say they do not sell enough. But everyone is hating as soon as he says anything people don't want to hear.

Yes, EA did some strange decisions. But there where Ubi, Activision, okaish to actually good ports.

People just did not buy them.

So like all those Nintendo games with great Gamepad usage?

I really enjoyed Super MArio 3D World, but the Gamepad usage was a piece of shit. New Super MArio Bros is even worse.

Pikmin 3 got touch control. One year later. DKC TF has like zero Gamepad usage. And so on.

99.9% of the time only off-TV is good. Then there's Nintendoland and Zombi U. Both release games.

Except for the very few games with really interesting Gamepad features i've started to use it for off-TV only. Rest if Pro Controller. That is at least handy and ergonomic.

this, if Ninty isnt even using it in there OWN games why does 3rd party have to? just another excuse

No third party selling except all the ones that did.

A game doesn't have to remain in the top 20 weekly best sellers of e-shop in order to sell well.

ubi and activision half assed efforts still sold well for what they were (no marketing, inexcusable delays...) and the installed base at the time (wich more than doubled since them yet they don't release more games). oh, people did buy them as well as other third party offerings (wich sold better). It's just hard to buy more when there isn't more.

And yet none of the major third party publishers want to make Wii U games anymore. Baffling!

They want but the bribery apeaks louder in their ears. besides, the term "anymore" could only be used for the ones who released something, but the majority never did. that goes to show how disgusting this industry got.

Are you suggesting that in order to get support, Microsoft and Sony both continually bribe publishers to release games on their systems?

No, I'm saying they bribe third parties so that they don't release their games on wii u. Lately they even do similar things out in the open, like activision screwing 3 out of 4 destiny versions because sony bribed them.
