Forums - Nintendo - Should Splatoon have more than 4 people per team?

4 vs 4 seems to be very good. If it would be more your skill wouldnt effect the results enough i guess.

But i would love to see 4 vs 4 vs 4 or ffa 8 players or something like this in the future :D

Maybe later if Nintendo releases bigger maps, but right now these 4x4 Fights are well-suited for the maps.

Multiple-way Matches would be nice too, but these might just become too confusing and/or unbalanced

2 vs 2
3 vs 3
4 vs 4
5 vs 5
6 vs 6
Where do you stop? Add to that, multiple game modes, weapon options, skill-based matching etc. Although options are great, every parameter serves to divide the potential player base for match making. I suspect they might add another option later if the game does really well and has a very active online community but for now I think it would be risky.

I suspect they settled on 4 by 4 because it allows the game to retain the feel of a team shooter (not an individual one) but you'd never be left waiting too long for your team to fill up.

Yup, 4vs4 is great, what I would really want to see is a 5 min. match too, not just 3 min. match.

Technical problems aside, more people would take away some of the strategy of the game.It would be top chaotic.Of course, it depends how large the other maps are, but for most 4 people do the job.And knowing how to spread the team is also part of the game.Though i wouldnt mind a "8 player smash" mode.Pure chaotic fun

Yeah Crazy is Fun. I wouldnt mind if they release a new mode ( expecially with all the free updates we will be getting ) where in someway they done that.

Maybe in E3 they might announce something. But for that the game must sell well, since a new mode might split the players and make matchmaking take longer if the number of players is low.Lets hope it succeeds!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

4 players strikes the right balance in my opinion.

What? 3 minute matches? Is the game really that fast paced?

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

Having 4v4 feels like it just works. Yes, there are moments that you don't encounter many players, but there are still enough intense firefights that keep it from being uninteresting. If there were more players, the game might feel cramped in some levels as well.

4 v 4 seems good for now, but then again we've only played a relatively low number of games. However, with time it might turn out that more game modes and maps would be preferable and then larger maps/more teams would be nice. However, as things are now it plays just fine.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Yup, at least for only curent mode on Demo, its ok, very fun and intense, but I would like 5 min match, I guess other modes will have different timing.
