Forums - Gaming - I just went on an indie game shopping spree!

I still need to get Teslagrad. Just played Guacamelee, Shantae, and Ori so I'm definitely in a MetroidVania mood.

Going forward, obviously Yooka-Laylee is on my must have list. Hopefully Bloodstained will hit the necessary stretch goals to make it to the system well. And whenever Shantae: Half Genie hero hits, I'll be playin' that as well. :D

I got a few.
Art of Balance (very addicting)
Mighty Switch Force 1 &2
The Shitty Letter
Trine 2
Little Inferno

A few more I can't remember right now.

Looking forward to Fatal Frame, Starfox and Zelda. That might be it for my beloved Wii U this gen unless something is announced. :(

*Xenoblade Chronicles X! Aka: GotY (I hope)

I see I named retail and not indie games. Just aren't any on the horizon that tickle my fancy.

Yeah, I guess for someone who's only played the $40 demo it would be hard to know better.

Edit: you should have bought Smash Wii U, sold the 3DS version and buy indies with that money instead.

I never said I've never played Smash Wii U. I have friends, including my suitemate AND my roommate, with the game. I know what I'm missing. The real world substantial difference is negligable. It's the same game.

Even if I wasn't all digital, I wouldn't sell my 3DS version. I bought Smash 3DS because I want Smash on my 3DS. I still want the Wii U version, but I can wait nearly forever, because playing on the Wii U is barely different. It looks a bit nicer, runs equally as well, and has a more comfortable controller. That's it. That's not a "drop everything because you must own this right now for $60" kind of upgrade.

Uhh lets see here...
Trine Enchanted Edition
Trine 2
Mighty Switch Force 2
Pier Solar and the Great Architects
Nano Assault Neo
Pure Chess
Paper Monsters Recut
Poker Dice
Armillo
TNT Racers
Steamworld Dig
Spikey Walls
Zen Pinball 2
Lucadian Chronicles
Edge

In the future I plan on getting
Mighty no. 9
Igavania
Yooka Laylie
Alphadia Genesis
Fast Racing Neo
90s Arcade Racer
and Meme Run 2.

Hello! I know it's not exactly on topic, but for now I can't post a new thread...

I'm a new indie game developer, from France, and I'd be very interested in getting some (honest!) opinions from other gamers. I've just made public today the game I've been developing for almost a year now, along with a site - http:/www.demetriosgame.com

Based on the information below, what would you say? Would you be interested in playing a game like this?

Demetrios is a fresh take on the classic "Point & Click" adventure games, adding a touch of cynical humor to the characters motivations.

The game puts you in the shoes of Bjorn Thonen, an antique seller being robbed one night after coming back home drunk. Doing his owninvestigation with the help of Sandra, his next-door neighbor, he ends up involved in a mysterious and murky affair. But these two unlikely heroes may be able to surpass themselves and discover ancient secrets!

Featuring Full HD colorful backgrounds and animated characters in first person view, similar to visual novels, the game offers varied situations and puzzles, for beginners and experts alike, with a highly contextual level of interactivity.

Try different items combinations, the results might surprise you!

Planned release : Early 2016

Platforms : PC/Mac/Linux

Distribution :

Digital : DRM-Free on this site, Desura, GOG, Steam (if accepted)

Physical : A limited box DVD version is planned, sold directly on this site

Supported languages : English, French (possibly Spanish and German at the time of release)

Creator and developer of the adventure game "Demetrios - The BIG cynical adventure" on PC and consoles. Publisher of "Xenon Valkyrie+"

So I was organizing my Wii U games library, when I realized that I ownly owned three indie games - Trine 2, which I didn't care for, and Little Inferno, which was merely neat, and Mighty Switch Force 2, which I bought because it was on sale for $4. By contrast, I own 12 indie games on my 3DS.

It's not like I didn't see any games I was interested in either. Mostly I just thought they were overpriced. In many ways, I'm more interested in the Wii U indies. But for some reason, I never bought them. So I decided that instead of buying Smash 4, I could just use that money, about $66, to buy some indie games. If I did that, I'd literally have all but three of the "indie" games that the Wii U offers that I'm interested in.

So I bought:

Shovel Knight - $15

Guaccamelee - $15

Teslagrad - $15

Slealth Inc. 2 - $15

Ballpoint Universe - $5

The only other one is Affordable Space Adventures, just because of the gamepad features. But at $20? Not very affordable. Maybe another time. Same with Shantae and the Pirates Curse. Maybe that's better on 3DS. I also want to get Child of Light. I know it's not an indie game, but guys, it's an indie game. And when I get it, it's going in my Indie game section with all my other indie games.

-----

So here are my questions to you:

What indie games do you have on your Wii U? In fact, go ahead and share your indie game library on your 3DS, too!

For my second question, what Wii U indie games are you looking forward to?

For me it's:

Project CARS (even though it's not really indie anymore)

90s Arcade Racer

Fast Racing Neo

Mighty No. 9

Q.U.B.E.

Bloodstained***

Ghost Song***

-----

***I'm praying these come to Wii U, but I'm fairly confident that they will.

Not even kidding, I'm considering never buying another full priced indie game again. This was traumtizing.

I have probably 100 indies between 3ds and Wii U and I will say that the ones that really stuck out were Shovel Knight, Child of Light, NES Remix, Teslagrad, The Keep (3ds), Runner 2, Pushmo/Crashmo/Pushmo World, Ironfall: Invasion, and Unepic. Many, many others are forgettable or just plain bad. You picked some of the best ones.

There were a few throw-away games that I got hooked on just because they were addictively fun like Witch and Hero and 50 Pinch Barrage. I wouldn't really recommend them, though.

Looking forward to Octodad and Adventures of Pip as well as Fast Racing Neo and 90s Arcade Racer.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P
