All proper Morpheus games on PS4 will run in 1080p at 60fps, the same performance that the PS4 is already capable off.  So I don't know what you're referring to.

So the current 2D titles are only using half of the GPU power available on the PS4??

Nope. Of course titles will run in 1080p@60  BUT the graphics fidelity will go do to something like Wii U levels.

Please tell me the difference between rendering 60fps on a 1080p screen and rendering 60fps on a 1080p screen.

When will people learn that VR is NOT stereoscopic 3D? VR shows exactly as many frames as any normal game would do. There are no interlaced frames for each eye because every eye got its own half 1080p screen.

VR is 2D. The same 2D your eyes project onto your retina.

The reason why VR needs more power is that it needs some extra time to process the information of the movement sensors and to render more than 60fps(which Morpheus won't do). So my guess is that VR games on PS4 will use about 20% more power because of additional movement processing and to keep the 60fps stable.

I'm going to say shooters.

I'm not one of those guys saying VR requires 2x power, I know its 960x1080p per eye, but last time I checked, the Morpheus headset is 3D and most VR games are 3D aren't they? After all, you could play VR on a PS3 game with the Sony 3D head display and move controllers.

PS, PS2, Gameboy Advance, PS3, PSP, PS4, Xbox One

Simulators and Horror games seem to work best with VR

The likes of Wii Sports and Kinect sports. Maybe some party games and stuff on rails.

I have doubts about that.

Did you play Wii Sports - or better  Wii Sports Resort  or  Wii Sports Club (Wii U) ??

If you're doing it "right" (speak: you're engaged which being these titles are all about) - you will move your bodys position within the room.

Moving your bodys position while wearing a VR headset is recipe for desaster bigger than broken Wii Mote straps

Yes I have played all of them. But you do make a good point about the positioning with the headset, I have actually mentioned that in other threads as well, but it could get quite dangerous. Kinect sports might still work alright though, there isn't a whole lot of large movements, mostly just body snap shots like fitting into a frame kind of thing.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

No its not stereoscpic 3D.

"arnt they" = answear = NO.  (im not sure I can be more clear about it than this)

So the logic for thinking that the resolution will drop, for playing VR games is just wrong.

Its no more demanding than games currently are.

You have to render two slightly different perspectives per eye its not just twixe the same image. The brain fuses it to a 3D Image. Like it woukd happen in real life. The rendering needs a bit mire horsepower. its kinda like splitscreen rendering

The GPU does not care what it renders. And if it were 200 different perspectives. Doesn't make a difference. If anything it makes it easier to render because the GPU and CPU can derive half of its data from one half of the screen and extrapolate them to a different angle.

While that is true it doesn't work for an actually good VR experience. 60 fps are the bare minimum for VR. Some may even say 60fps already destroys "presence" and that it needs at least 75fps. So a good VR experience actually needs big performance reserves for very high fps and locking them. Because frame drops are an absolute NO GO in VR.

It's hard to name any game on PS4 that does not suffer from drops, even if it runs 60fps most of the time.

Morpheus is a good step forward in popularizing VR but I just hope it will not destroy a lot of first impressions by being a sub par experience.

My honest opinion is that VR will be defined by pornographic games. :)
