Please tell me the difference between rendering 60fps on a 1080p screen and rendering 60fps on a 1080p screen. When will people learn that VR is NOT stereoscopic 3D? VR shows exactly as many frames as any normal game would do. There are no interlaced frames for each eye because every eye got its own half 1080p screen. VR is 2D. The same 2D your eyes project onto your retina. The reason why VR needs more power is that it needs some extra time to process the information of the movement sensors and to render more than 60fps(which Morpheus won't do). So my guess is that VR games on PS4 will use about 20% more power because of additional movement processing and to keep the 60fps stable. |
I'm not one of those guys saying VR requires 2x power, I know its 960x1080p per eye, but last time I checked, the Morpheus headset is 3D and most VR games are 3D aren't they? After all, you could play VR on a PS3 game with the Sony 3D head display and move controllers.
