Forums - Website Topics - VGChartz is a shadow of its former self (bear with me here)

Your rumour is wrong Jay, I know why you would think that though. Something was lost in translation it seems... But he does have things going on which explain the break in numbers; however at the same time he should have someone to cover under such an event (or indeed to simply apologise for it)

As for thread variety it's a quiet time and a lot of people have been busy recently ; however in the next few days things should be back the way they were before (hopefully). It's not going to be an overnight change or transformation to break through the "boredom", but small steps on the way to recovery. When the numbers start flowing again, even better. Because I honestly believe this forum discusses games in a better and more civil manner than near any other.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Another problem is that in this community and I'm sorry that I have to say this, most gaming discussion (as in real discussion just about a game or games) is geniunely horrible. If it's a third party game that's not controversial, nobody cares, if it's controversial the discussion focuses on the controversy. And with first party games it's all a big dick measuring contest.

And critique of something that people like is constantly met with nothing but aggressive backlash, don't anybody dare point out that something could be done better for your favourite system/game.

Well lol, looks like me and Cone have a completely different opinion on this forum. :D

The sales shall come. Simply be patient.

You are absolutely right! I was a lurker for many years as well, and only recently started to be a (somewhat) active member in the community.

And you know why I became active? First, of all because I now have the feeling I could actually give something to the community, while before that may not have been the case. So in a sense, I became active because of the feeling that the website wasn't the same anymore. Also, since it has become impossible for me to stare at the numbers for long periods of time anymore (as I used to), I had to find another way of spending my time... and get my sales fix

I'm starting to believe he got sick of the bitching, "under tracked, over tracked, etc." This might be a lesson he's teaching us to appreciate the site more.

Heh, so it would seem. Maybe we're just looking in different threads then

I know what you're talking about; negative threads get a lot more discussion than positive ones. And it's something that I and other users/mods have noticed and acknowledged, and are trying to fix. As I said in the previous post however this is not a "quick fix" and it's not going to be resolved overnight, but by promoting positivity and good threads (the "official thread thread" and the NintenDomination switchover being good examples) hopefully the situation can be turned around. It's important to note that it's not something that one man or woman can do by him/herself, though, and it requires the community to want to improve moreso than anything else.

But the ability to just talk in what is effectively a flame-free environment is something that I appreciate. There's very few aggressive posters or trolls out there and the mod team do a good job keeping most of 'em at the door.

Actually this is very true.  Out of all the threads i post, the ones that get big are the ones that are controversial or when people are pointing out something negative.

We have rumors now on here? Wow, sounds exciting.

Six years ago we had the excitement of the Wii destroying everything. We don't have that now.

But things were pretty good when you weren't posting.

Unfortunately, this cannot be said about you, since no one is around who remembers the good old times before there were rols
