Diverse? What's missing besides 3d platformer and stealth?

RPG's and new IP's in general.

So what is Fable?

Just one game.

It needs more rpg's in general and more japanese games. This is not an unfair criticism of xbox consoles' typical game library.

Of course he did a good job, He is putting attetntion on the pc side of buisness. Somenthing inverstors have been craving to finally get out of the massive debt mamchine the x1 has been. You got to admit that with each exclusive lost to pc, the talk of windows 10, hololens starting on pc and how to be able to sell a x1 it has to be like -$50 a 2 games compared to the competition, Its not looking good. Not saying it will be discontinued, but this is for sure the last xbox and wont last as long as the ps4, will loose a lot of third partys, and lts will be low.

I don't think X1 is losing money it is likely the X1 is cheaper to make there is no real evidence of it losing money for each X1 sold. The windows talk is also nothing to worry about there is no evidence of that they will save it for E3. There is only a few investors, NOT all of them who want to see Xbox sell there is over exaggeration on that but again Xbox will be here for a long time. I could keep going but I don't want to bother on people who only sees what they want to see.

Hmmmmm....
Yeah I don't think they made a lot of money giving away so many free games and selling the console for a value of $150 during the holidays. Cutting their production investments with Kinect abruptly, premature pricedrop, marketing efforts going down the toilet in Japan, etc.

Mmmmmmmm....

Yeah somehow giving away 2(one not even worth a whole $60 since it release a year ago) or in a few cases 3 free games(sunset bundle sold out before holidays began) with an extra gift card ONLY available in selected retailers NOT officially from Microsoft is somehow alot(PS4 did the same with GTA5 and TLOU Remastered and others like LBP3), offering a Kinectless X1 while still offering one with it,price drop happen DURING the holidays(Kinectless doesn't officially count cause its still available at FULL price), we don't know how big they push X1 in Japan but remember it still doesn't really need it to be sucessfull worldwide. Also it should be noted that they also make money by membership, accessories, and by people buying other games, etc. Sooo....yeah.

Xbox consoles have plenty of RPGs when you include 3rd party games. If you want more niche japanese games then Xbox is the wrong console for you. It has a good amount of the big Japanese games and there's more coming.

I hope that's the case for xbox fans. It really needs some new IP's to make it's library more diverse in my opinion.

Its library is already pretty diverse. Are we going to pretend its a shooterbox?

Hey, thanks for the rheatoric.

Easy..... It's library is actually not that diverse. Simply at the competition. Especially with the libraries of previous gens. JRPG's? RPG's? New IP's? Did I call it a shooterbox? No but I'll let you pretend it's a "shooterbox".

PS4 needs JRPG's not just the Xbox, The genre is slowly disapearing and been replaced my niche fanservice anime games. After spening most of my gameing years playing almost only jrpg's untill mind-late ps3 ( where the genre changed imo)

That's true but based on the history of previous gens and what's been going on this gen, there will be plenty or more JRPG's than there was in the previous gen. I disagree that the genre is disappearing. It's just making a reappearance mainly because of the playstation's popularity and the rising popularity of anime. It's becoming more logical to port games outside of japan.

Yes, even one of those things is significant when the manufacturing cost of XBO is esimated to $396 without Kinect. All combined together, and it certainly amounts to a lot. Abandoning their Kinect plans is not as simple as selling it separately. All the component manufacturing deals they've made are going to cost them because the unit will no longer sell or need to be produced nearly as much as they originally planned. Not to mention the abandonment of their DRM plans. All those things go into the initial budget plan. They expected to make a lot more money on game sales that way, by elliminating second hand sales. Those expected profits were then used to invest into other aspects of XBO's development. But that money is no longer part of their projections, so it'll either have to come out of their pockets, or result in cancelation of plans.
And no, PS4 did not do the same thing. Not even close. Besides giving away more free games, they also added a $50 price cut onto the console itself. A friend of mine picked up an XBO during the holiday sales for $450 with 5 free games and a $50 gift card towards a sixth game. AC Black Flag, AC Unity, Destiny, Lords of the Fallen, Sunset Overdrive and Dragon Age Inquisition. Even being generous and assuming each game is only worth $50, that's still $150 for the console. As for Japan, they had adds everywhere in front of stores and midnight launch parties with invited celebrity figureheads from the industry, etc. And in the end, pretty much no one showed up, and they have a baseline of like 200 units per week in Japan, dropping towards 100. So whatever the cost was, it was pretty much all down the drain, as it's hard to see how they would be able to do much worse even if they hadn't tried.
Then there are the marketing deals they spend lots of money on, where the PS4 version still ends up selling more. In those cases it's obvious they would have done even worse had they not had the marketing deals. However, it still begs the question if it's worth the money for them with the small boost they do get.
Yes, companies make money on software sales and subscriptions, etc. That doesn't mean they can slash prices any way they want and remain profitable. PS3 for example never made up for the losses it cost them. Just the premature $50 price cut being in effect since last year is making the console sell for less than it costs to make. And that's only the cost of the copmponents. Not counting factory, boxing, shipping, and retailers taking their cut, etc. They're going to be using cheaper components soon, but if they add another price cut again to match Sony if they add one this year then they're back to losing money again. Especially if Sony do a $100 price cut, as they historically have done with all their previous consoles.
You're the only one on this forum I've seen suggesting that they're making money. If things go as planned, they will make up for the losses later. As for right now, there's no doubt they're eating losses.

BOLD: I am only stating they are likely making that money back slowly while taking little losses as possible.

A few of those things you said I sorta disagree but I don't want to keep going here but one thing I would say is about your friend getting 5 games it is great for him but remember this deal is not really something that's everywhere like the Assassin's Creed bundled.

I agree with this, The genre has been disappearing all together. However I think we will see a uptake soon enough, I thought south park stick of truth was a great game, maybe not what some people where looking for but it was a great RPG and took a new spin to expand the genre.

Just stop and use your head. I'd say PS4 has more diversity doesn't mean the X1 lacks diversity.

X1 has a JRPG from Square Enix (FF Type-0) and a few more coming from them. Either way its not a genre Xbox fans really care about for obvious reasons.

X1 has numerous RPGs already. Dragon Age, Witcher 3, Dark Souls 2, Lords of Fallen, Diablo 3, and others are coming. I'm not even including some shooter/rpg titles.

New IPs? Titanfall, Ryse, Ori, D4, Crimson Dragon, Lococycle, Project Spark, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Scalecound, Screamride, and others are inevitably coming. Those are new IPs MS has/is either developing, pushing, and/or funding.

So again, the X1 doesn't lack diversity and we're just in year two. The PS360 libraries weren't great this early in their life. People forget that and only compare 8th gen to the entire 7th gen.

Fable is one of many RPGs inevitably coming to the platform.

Why does X1 need Japanese games? The west hasn't been showing much interest in them. Regardless, X1 will get more Japanese games.
