Forums - Nintendo - Is Splatoon the hardest Nintendo has ever pushed a new ip?

First off lets look at what they done.

Multiple events.

Beta

Real Turf War in LA

Billboads/electropnic billboards at baseball games and in Japan

3 commercials in each region

official plushies

official manga

official bundles

preorder incentives

and thats just the low end of them.

Is this the most they have pushed one of their new ips.

If not tell me, if so tell me your reason.

Wii sports is up there cause it was bundled with every console with fantastic marketing but it certainly looks like it

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

They're certainly pushing this new IP, that's for darn sure.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Most recent, Look at the push in the wii/ds era (wii sports/fit +brain age/etc

Hmm, it may actually be. No game from Ninten got this much of a push, except probably the Wii games, which Jizz also mentions. Those Wii CMs likely sold people on the console.

I think so. This is also one of the reasons I want the game to sell well.

Outside of the Wii/DS era, absolutely. No game in the GCN or N64 days especially got this amount of attention, not even the game made by Miyamoto himself (Pikmin).

Edit: Although I will say that Pokemon got a massive push by Nintendo on the GB also.
