Try Dragon Quest 4-6 on DS since you're going to try 9. They're older but aren't too much different.

Are those downloadable games or retail?

My opinion: Not a fan of pokemon & fire Emblem.

If you have a Android smart phone:

Dragon Quest 1,2,3,4,5,8

Get the 6th on the DS and the 7th on playstation (not sure if you can get it anywhere else)

Good games to play while your on say a bus/train/passenger seat in a car.

Retail. Sadly they're also a bit harder to track down than 9. You will probably have an easier time finding 4 or 6 versus 5, though. 5 is one of the most loved by fans (and rightfully so its really good). If you cant find 5, I'd recommend 6.

Wii u has been covered so I'll recommend The World Ends With You, tales of the abyss and the Mario+Luigi games all on ds/3ds. Oh and final fantasy 4 has a nice remake on ds.

Oh ok cool! I'd probably play them in order just because they do get progrssively longer, 4 is like 45hrs, 5 is like 55, and 6 is like 65-70

Chrono Trigger is pretty good. You can get it on PSN for $5. But the DS version is probably the definitive version as it has slightly more content.

I was thinking on downloading on the Wii VC but Nikom also recommend me the DS version.
