So, thus far, nintendo has be doign a lot of colaborations with japanese developers, mostly with the well regarded ones, like kamya, harada, and etc. Anyway, if you see a pattern here, they never do only one game. Platinum did W101 and Bayonetta 2. Tecmo did Fatal frame V and Hyrule Warriors. Namco is doing pokken and project treasure. Vahhala is doing devils't third, and???
I know, i know, its a strech, but when you look at it, it seems nintendo make some kind of" make the game that you want, them make the game that we want you to make". The P-100 was a timid reveal at a random 30 sec at the E3 round up of upcoming U games that later became the the W101. Bayonetta 2 was announced alone as the big exclusive at a conference made mostly to announce exactilly that prior to the wiiu launch, altough some could argue that Bayonetta 2 didn't used the gamepad as much as W101.
With tecmo, its more like
-hey, do a fatal frame, will work really well with the game pad, even myamoto will come and help you!
-It will sell like shit, no point...
- we will lend you zelda franchise too so you can make a musou game with it
-DEAL!
With harada, was like:
-Harada-san, we need to try to make a free-to-play game on wiiu too, help us
-A WiiU free-to-play exclusive new IP game? Seriously? C'mom, i need to make a living out of gaming, you know?
-You can also make a pokemon figthing game, if you wa-
-DEAL!
Days latter on vahalla studios:
-Itagaki we need you to make the ?????????? exclusive for wiiu
-Erhm, not so sure, a pretty big investment on this, and exclusive for wiiu...
-... we will fund this game that you are still trying to make
-DEAL!
For me, this is the only explanation for nintendo to fund a game that they never talked about, ever! Even on the "reveal, its ahppened on ign". Even during that short sesssion on nintendo trheehouse, they put it on the last segment and only showed it for like10 min, most of the time they only showed slides. Still think that there is more to it. Even with suda nintendo didn't made only one game. There is more to it, l can feel it. Dunno how long it will take to reveal, but i think this year yet, we will see it.
"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."
