Iwata says that they are going to continue the support for Wii U/3DS while preparing for NX, and that their priority is to satisfy Wii U costumers.

So I just watched a video about the annoucement of the splatfest date, and one guy brought up a very interesting point: he said that since nintedo had matchmaking issues with the japanese splatfest they re-schedule the NA splatfest to July 4 because they did not solve the problems with the online and they know in July 4 most people in the US (we can all agree it has the biggest amount of players in all NA) won't play the game so the ones actually playing that day won't experience matchmaking issues because not a lot of people are going to play.

What do you guys think? To me it makes a lot of sense (you can argue that this doesn't work because Europe has nothing to celebrate in July 4, but splatoon did not sell as much in Europe as it did in NA and Japan)

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the plan.

Even though it's July 4th, I still think a good chunk of players are still gonna play, so I guess we'll see how things play out, but considering how they delayed, I'll be pretty disappointed if connection issues are prevalent.
