Nintendo is partnering with McDonalds to include Zelda amiibos with Happy Meals.

“We decided placing new Amiibos in happy meals would be a great distribution method to let consumers get their favorite toys, but still maintain the sense of rarity that makes people want Amiibos. You can buy a happy meal, but you aren’t guaranteed to get the exact Amiibo that you are trying to collect. It’s just like the system we have created with retail chains, but instead of us limiting the stock to increase demand, the consumer is in control. Or, rather, McDonalds to be exact..."

Normally, I'd say that this is a great way to market amiibo, but when you consider the rarity of some amiibo, and how scalpers are raising the prices ton ludicrous amounts, the fact that they're randomizing these amiibo sounds like this will only lead to absolute chaos for collectors.

It also means that the figure I may want will be left to chance, and I could end up spending a lot more just for a chance to get the one I want, which is terrible...
