So I just finish watching both SMT X FE and Star Fox gameplay from the treehouse and I want to share my first impressions.
SMT X FE looks amazing, the way its desing based on real locations in Japan is a nice touch and it seems they really put a lot of attention on details. While I was not expecting the Pop theme to be in the game when it first was teased I gotta say it's more appealing to me than I expected, the music is great and the anime style cutscenes look fantastic.
Now for the most interesting part, battle system and characters. The battles are turn-based which is great, the weapon triangle from fire emblem is in the game, however it seems that the enemies have elemental weakness as well. The session attacks (I think thats what they are call) felt a little bit op to me, but maybe the game was set on easy mode or something, I just hope the session attacks have certain limits to how many times they can be use.
It seems like there are 3 main characters and each one can fuse with the fire emblem characters to fight. My question here is, Are those fire emblem characters the only ones you can fuse with the main characters? It seems that way but I'll really like to have more FE to select so that I can change the way I battle. They show one secondary character (a female archer) but I think she only showed up in one session attack and you can't control her actions.
So far the game looks a 1 day buy, my only concern is how many characters are going to be in the game.
Now Star Fox, I love the way the game changes from the traditional Star Fox gameplay to the plattforming sections. I also like how much freedom the game gives you in all range mode, like in some stages were you can change from tthe flying form to the walking form (sorry but I don't remember the exact names). The game doesn't look bad and I think it can still get polished. Game looks like the star fox we all love with new gameplay elements, new mechanics and new locations... Another day 1 buy.
The only thing bad about the games is the lack of online multiplayer, honestly I did not expected the game to have it but still it's sad to see a game with amazing onlne multiplayer potential skip that function.
Both games look amazing and they are some of the reasons I did not sold my wii u after the disappointing E3 presentation.
