Forums - Gaming - Alien: Isolation Sells 2.1 Million Copies

reative Assembly's horror game Alien: Isolation has now sold more than 2.1 million copies, publisher Sega announced on Monday as part of its latest earnings report for the year ended March 31.

This is up from the 1 million sales figure that Sega announced back in January.

Does Isolation's success mean a sequel is on the way? It's too early to say for sure, though Creative Assembly has said it sees a "great opportunity" to make a follow-up.

As you can see in the chart above, Sega's Football Manager 2015 shifted 810,000 units for PC, while the new Sonic Boom games for Wii U and 3DS combined to sell 620,000 copies.

For Sega's latest financial year, the company's total packaged software sales rose to 12.3 million, but Sega still said "performance in the field was weak due to the harsh market environment."

The digital side was another story, however.

Meh game, to be honest. The Alien fanservice, and the atmosphere itself, were awesome. But it stretched way too long, and it definitively overstayed its welcome. As for horror games goes, I'm glad The Evil Within reached higher success than Alien:Isolation.

can they not pls?
the game was way to long for what it was...

I disagree.  Honestly it is very possibly in my top 3 games this generation.  Loved it

Great sales considering the context of its launch (end of last gen/weak software sales on PS3/360), beginning of new gen (limited software sales on PS4/X1)+mixed reviews.

Haven't played it but at a glimpse it looks like the kind of game that should break even at 1m. If not then they need to budget their games better. Other then capcom no one should be making horror games that need 2m to break even

One of the most accomplished horror games in recent years if not in recent generations. How that campy cheesefest evil within sold more is beyond me.

Wasn't Sega unhappy with Aliens sales numbers?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Glad to hear it has done well. Although I agree with the criticisms regarding the game's length (it definitely was 3 or 4 hours too long), overall the game was great. They nailed the atmosphere completely.
