Forums - Microsoft - Why is Voice Chat and Party on Xbox one worst than Xbox 360?

**slower**
**less user friendly**
**broken at times**

I've been having issues with this since I got my Xbox One console. At times I'm in a party with a friend but we simply can't get the voice chat to work. Often we would simply reboot the system, follow the same step has before and it works fine. Seem like on Xbox 360 starting a coop game was seamless and would always work. On Xbox One the processes seem hit or miss and different depending on which game you’re playing (dead rising 3). Playing coop on Halo MCC, required that we both reconfigure our routers to Xbox one acceptable settings. Many games now require that you set the router NAT to open. Xbox One online won't work if you’re on a more secure network?

Xbox one party and voice chat is something that should work 100% of the time and should be extremely user friendly. Is it just me or does the Xbox One party and voice chat much worst then it used to be on Xbox 360. Sure the quality might be much better but if you’re having a hard time connecting, chatting and playing together what's the point?

I'm still waiting for that one update that finally clears up all these issues!!!

Because the hyper visor layers...

MS needs to handle way more now in terms of OSs than what they did on 360... that means the apps get complex code (that leaves a widen open for bugs) and the low priorities in the tasks making them slow.

BTW Xbone has UPnP so it is to work fine with any router unless you turn off UPnP.

At least the quality is better. I have not had any real issues with it other than the loading times.

Setting up is hit and miss esp if your on different games or in snap mode.

Best just stick to the dashboard then send the invite. The technical performance of party chat is great though. Never get any audio drops or getting kicked.

Teething problems?
I had the same thing at the cross-over from XBox to XBox 360. Echos over the headset, could talk to all party members in the menus, yet could only hear one of them during a race. (PGR3)
Also had the NAT issue in TDU, many races failed due to incompatible NAT types.

You would think that it would work right from the start at the 3rd iteration. You can always use your 360 to chat while playing on the XBox One ;)

We had echos over the headset, turned out we got a deffective headset from Microsoft. Got it exchange and it work fine after.

Most voice chat problems seem to be related to NAT. I haven't had any problems since Party Chat was given dedicated servers for preview members though.

I bought a second headset which had the same problems. I never bothered to exchange it though. The same headset worked fine later on, so it must have been in the software unless it magically repaired itself.
I cancelled live when it ran out as I kept having connection problems, plus when it did work online multiplayer wasn't even very enjoyable.
I still gave it a try on free live weekends and all the problems were fixed eventually. My rare online gaming habits had switched to the ps3 however.

I wouldn't go that far.... Games with Gold, Deals with gold, Quality of service when your connected Xbox Live is amazing. I'm just baffle that Microsoft is having issue with party and chat when this was super user friendly and seamless on Xbox 360.

I ask myself the same question all the time. Xbox 360 was more user friendly, I don't know how they ended up with this mess of an OS.
