The focus on covering the most ground over getting kills feels so good. My big brother actually didn't get it at first. "Why are you just spraying all over the place? Kill the other team!" Classic :) I've personally gotten a lot of mileage out of the Splatshooter Jr. I liked it's power-up, the temporary invulnerability shield. It helps when clearing out overwhelming enemies in one area. The difference between Jr. and the regular version seems to be shorter range for more accuracy/ rate of fire. I've never had that preferance before, short and speedy over mid. Goes to show what different kind of beast the game is going to be. I don't know what a lot of people are saying about the rollers. I believe that they aren't all that overpowered. Against longer range and no back-up, the rollers are vapor-ware by the time I get my hands on them. Yeah, the surprise buttsex can get a bit annoying, it being a one-hit-kill and all, you just have to keep your distance and take advantage of your squid form. Utilizing unique power-ups for certain situations are also key. Just pump that modern Da'Vinci full o' mastic composition! Keeping an eye on the map and tracking where to focus paint on is so fresh. Make sure to use those, "Come on!" commands to (hopefully) convince your team mates to follow you and focus on an area to spray on. A pretty reliable substitute for voice chat. My teammates usually got it when I used it and charged toward an enemy heavy area. Strategy! Overall, I can't wait for what else this game's got in store. I love the look, I love how the game plays, I love the teamwork. Should have chosen faster shipping. Not getting to me till the 8th of next month :(. I hope I can change it. It was web-in store at Gamestop for those Smash costumes. I look forward to playing it again in a few hours, if my brain is willing enough to endure till then. 7:00-8:00 here in the East. 3:00 currently. |
man, i'm jealous you figured out more of the game than i did! didn't know there were "cmon" commands, and i didn't know the weapons had specials. i used the roller exclusively. It destroyed noobs, but when it came to facing more stratigic players who knew to use the high ground and distance things got tough. You had to change your strategy up and try to lure them into the open by splatting areas they couldn't reach, then try to sneak up behind them. For being a giant weapon you seem to have to be stealthy with it. I love the irony with that! I actually canceled my pre-order after the news of no voice chat, re-preordered it today cause i had such a good time!

that's unfortunate since i think this game is going to bomb in the u.s. Even my friends that have wii-us have no interest in getting it. I'm the only one i know getting it sadly.
Got up in the early morning to play this. Wasn't disappointed. :D
This game is so much fun!!! I had such a blast covering as much ground in ink as possible, and taking out enemies along the way. x ) I tried out the splattershot, the jr., and the roller. All of them are really great weapons! I didn't use the sniper because I never use them in shooters, and I'm pretty terrible with them...
This game is also really great with turning into a squid and quickly traversing through the level, hiding from enemies, and climbing walls. I found myself using it a lot and speeding through things and popping up behind people x )
I really enjoyed the weapons too. The Splattershot and jr. were really for getting quick shots on the field and hitting enemies, while the roller was great for covering a lot of ground and crushing people with it!!! x ) It's not a OP as people say it is, I think.... I got taken out sometimes while using it and vice-versa. Those weapons I really liked.
If I had any issues, is it would be I thought the character moves a bit slow, but squid form makes this a moot point. Jumping feels weird, slow, and floating, but it's really minor, and a few times I couldn't take out an enemy with the roller on a slope. I'd bump them twice and they wouldn't die... T_T
But yeah, the game is great! I got in fast, had little issues getting into matches, and just had one awesome hour! x ) I wish I could play more... : ( Well, I'm def sold.

I wouldn't worry about it. Once your friends see you playing it and having fun they will be right there with you.
Second round yesterday:
Again one connection error within an hour. That's not bad.
Felt like zero lag again.
So that side is close to perfect.
Splattershot Jr. is nice with its special abilities.
But Rollers still feel OP in the small arena. At least with people knowing how to handle the roller.
Really looking forward to SP and the other MP modes now.

I just checked the picture on my phone to confirm that that wasn't my team. But then again, it couldn't have been. You did this in the 3rd testfire. In the very last match I played in the 1st testfire, all 4 members of the other team camped around my team's spawn point. We couldn't get any breathing space. They demolished us 6.7% to 79.7%. In each testfire, I noticed subtle things/came up with little strategies that I didn't notice/think of before. Like in the 2nd one, I wass camping in one high spot and guarding that area until my special gauge went full. The bombs special. It would have been a waste to use it then. That's when for the first time, I used the long range jump ability (apart from respawns, of course. Everyone uses it at respawns) to go to an uncaptured area where a team mate was working and bombed the whole place.
I've gone and downloaded the game's theme song now. Didn't think I'd like the game this much but the style, music and Nintendo-fun factor got me.

A single non-contributing team member really drags the whole team down and makes it near impossible to win. One match I dominated the enemy team near their spawn point, holding them off for most of the match, but they still won by a nose because one team member racked up a whopping 0 points. |
yup sounds similar to my story like how do you get 0 pts smh
That's both impressive and unfathomable. I mean, did they just log in then drop their controllers on the couch?

Dunno but I'm actually not gonna be here for it unfortunately.
